I came here twice in a week. The first time I came here, I didn't add Sriracha or lime. It tasted awesome. I added Sriracha and lime the second time. It was horrid (Too much on both fronts). I only get #1. The plum sauce is awesome when you dip the beef. This soup is not oily at all. It tastes like beef broth with a hidden flavor embedded. Big plus on my side, I like drinking the soup. It doesn't need the sprouts/mint/lime/anything. Before eating, just think: The contents of that bowl, within the hour, will reside inside of your stomach. It's like the Hoover Dam being deliciously injected into your body. No complaints here. Pho comes out fast too.

This restaurant is amazing I've been coming here for years now. Their house special, Pho bac is spectacular. Great service and very attentive. The owners are super friendly. Highly recommended.

Service was good. Staff was courteous. Environment was clean and decor very classic and neat. Regular Pho was great! Pho Bac (northern Pho) was terrible. I had some expecting the regular pho taste, not realizing the broth was different. I will definitely not be ordering that again. I wasn't a fan of the wider noodles nor the way the broth tasted. So the minus 1 star was really because of that pho bac and when I asked one of the staff why it tasted so different he didn't seem to understand my question. He kept saying it's no different than the other pho, that it was the same thing. It definitely isn't the same. Just to warn you guys the flavor profile of the broth in pho bac is sweeter and spicier? It lacked the depth of flavor I like so much in regular pho. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back for their regular pho and to try out their other dishes.

They have noodle soups only. Sorry broken rice fans. They have their #1 which is the northern viet style pho and I believe everything else is southern style. The flavor profile is very clean tasting, and it's a very good bowl of pho. The service was awesome, I believe they're quad-lingal (Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese & English). The only thing I would knock maybe half a point on is the price as my personal opinion, but I'm used to cheap pho in the OC.

This place is good but service is kind of lack. Food came out little longer that what I expected but food was good. I got iced coffee here. Too strong, wait until ice melt then it's just perfect I like this place. Service need improvement. Overall, I like this place

One of my friend who's a so called pho expert told me to check this place out. Since i was feeling a little under the weather, I took his advice and headed over. I ended up getting the #1 combo with the filet mignon and... (I'm no pho expert) but it was pretty tasty. They even serve the pho in metal bowls. How fancy is that? On a side note, they add ginger to your pho, tasty for some but an annoyance for others. Just make sure you let them know if you don't want it so they can leave it out when making your pho. My two biggest gripe about this place is that they don't give you enough onions when you ask for some. It's not enough to share that's for sure. Also, they put too much ice in drinks. =/

Northern style-ish pho. Get the pho filet as that is their signature bowl. Really good service every time I'm there. Quick and nice. Parking is in the back lot though if that a full you can try street parking.

Wanted to eat something quick with my boyfriend for lunch the other day, and saw a few reviews from Yelp friends about Pho Huynh, so decided to drop by. There's a small parking lot behind the restaurant, and street parking if there aren't any spaces. Lots of tables, but since they serve the bowls of pho so quickly, people pretty much come and go. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon (#1) and I ordered #2. He added extra beef balls, which were served on the side a few minutes after our pho came out - which was super fast! I thought the broth was pretty tasty, but I'm not a pho fan so as long as there is flavor, I'm good. I thought that all the pho specials came with the flat noodles (which is why I picked this place), but mine came with the regular vermicelli, while my boyfriend's had the flat noodle! That was disappointing. #2 had lots of meat and LOTS of noodles. Meat wise, I had tripe, flank, even some beef balls in my soup. The meat was tasty and added to the flavor of the broth. I was really full after eating my bowl. #1 seemed to contain more noodles than meat, and my boyfriend also mentioned that the broth wasn't as tasty as Pho Pasteur. I think our taste palates differ by a lot haha. They serve the typical beansprouts, chili, mint and lime on the side. I also got an iced coffee for my dad, which he said he liked. Flavor was good, and the cup wasn't overflowing with ice like some other places do to their iced coffee! Overall, I thought it was decent. Would have liked to have tried the flat noodle for my bowl though. Very quick meal and pay at the counter. They accept credit cards as well and this place opens really early!

Came here on Mother's Day and got seated right away. The service was good nothing spectacular. Now as far as the food.. Decent selection on the menu but pho get about it. Get the filet minion. It's number 1 on the menu for a reason.

They are currently remodeling, and it looks super modern (a lot nicer than your usual pho restaurant). I like coming here because this pho restaurant uses FILET MIGNON. Uh, AWESOME! Pho Bac ($7.25) aka their Filet Mignon Beef Noddle Soup. It comes with a nice portion of filet. The noodles are a thicker than your usual pho noodles, and the broth has more flavor. I usual like to add a side of meatballs to my order (just because I love meat and I can never get enough of it). 4 stars because of the food. Their service is average, but that is pretty much the ONLY thing average about this pho restaurant. Oh, and they don't have eggrolls.... Nonetheless, the Pho Bac is enough for me to come back again and again.

Recently converted to a Pho Huynh fan. Very clean, does not skimp on meat, extra onions without asking, scallion oil to add into the Pho Broth (mandatory). The house chilli sauce is very tasty. Open Early - private lot.

My favorite place to get Pho Bac!! It's northern style vietnamese filet mignon with thick rice noodle served in a metal bowl. Pho bac comes out very quickly and its boiling hot! Customer service is great and quick. It's so convenient to come here when you're in a rush and you want something to satisfy your hunger. Also, its opens really early for those morning birds.

  • Sarina V.

The pho here is the best I've had in the area of el monte! I just thought the meat was very tender and broth was pretty good! They only have pho and drinks, no appetizers or anything. They have a small private lot in the back which is helpful. There is a minimum of $10 for a credit card charge, I hate when places do that but ugh at least we know for next time I guess. Barely anyone speaks english, but luckily my bff is vietnamese, so it was fairly easy, they packed our order to go, but we were just ordering ahead for our 1 hour lunch break. They switched it really fast so that was nice, I think I'll be back here for lunch!

Edit: reduced by 1 star due to changing prices on drinks different from the menu provided us. Tl; dr. Subpar service, decreased meat, increased prices, iced beverages are 90% ice, no longer filing. 1 star given for decent tasting pho, otherwise would be 1 star at best. The place used to be one of my favorites, but they've changed a little too much in the past year that they've fallen fast, far down. Their prices have increased as evidenced by the blacking out and adding in of prices on their relatively newly minted menus. Their drinks are acceptable at best, made worse by their decision to fill the cup up to brim with ice then pour what mediocre beverage they have and cap it. Now I know why they prefer the Styrofoam cups and no longer serve drinks in glass containers. The pho itself is good, but the amount of meat and items provided seem to be decreased. I used to leave this place full and satisfied. Now it feels like I just ate an appetizer.

This is my go to pho place in town! I like that they have a lean brisket option! I usually go for their rare steak and/or lean brisket pho. They also have a northern style pho with filet mignon which they are known for. Unlike a lot of other pho restaurants, their portions are big and they definitely do not skimp out on their meat. I know because I am one of those people asking for "a little bit more meat" at chipotle. Fast service - not more than a few minutes to get your order. You will feel satisfied leaving the place. Will recommend to anyone in a heartbeat. PS. Min of $10 for credit card.

Although the pho isn't what it used to be, it's still such a great joint! I always come here for family breakfast or brunch! For those who are feeling adventurous, try the pork blood soup, definitely a great side item. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and the only pho that beats here is my dad's home cooking. I also love the fact they have vinegar soaked onion, which is delish in your pho! The service is always prompt even if you have to flag someone down (keep in mind they're busy most f the time!). This is a great place for food, rain or shine.

  • Ticha B.

Good pho. There is nothing else on their menu except for pho and drinks so don't expect any appetizers or rice dishes. The pho noodle bowls came out super fast. The service was no frills. Regular size bowls are $7 and $7.50 for the large bowls. The no. 1 filet mignon is $8.00 and comes in a metal bowl. Sooooo full now. Only wish they'd add less ice in our drinks. I took a couple of drinks of my lime soda and it was out ($3.00).

  • Chris S.

The filet mignon pho was the best I have yet to have. I highly recommend eating here, even if you need to travel some miles. The beef comes on the side, raw, and you drop it into the hot soup. Several minutes later and you are eating the most tender and sumptuous meat ever. The soup flavor has my mouth watering at the thought. I will definitely return for more. Also had the iced Viet-coffee (espresso with condensed milk over ice), which was strong and very good. The only drawback was not knowing if, or how much, MSG is used. Will ask next time and update my review.

Goddamnnnn!!!!! This place is amazing! I never get tired of it!!! All I can say is it's so damn good!!! Yeah... It's that good I rate this place 10/10

Pho only spot! A lot of my friends love this place. Don't really know why though. The menu covers essentially all the pho options. I went with my usual which comes with tripe, tendon, and rare brisket, which was tasty. I didn't care for the broth as much as some. I do like how the place is clean and fairly modern. Parking situation is absolutely horrible with that lot. Park on the street if during prime time!

Was visiting my grandparents and got hungry so we went to this place since our go to pho place closed down. Upon walking in the very first thing I noticed was how big the restaurant is. The restaurant is clean, but the little containers that you put your sauces in were kind of sticky and dusty didn't seem like from being dirty but more like it hasn't been used in a while maybe? Regardless I didn't use it. Order a small PHO GA (chicken) and instead of getting the normal noodles that come with pho I opted to try the slightly bigger noddles because they're made fresh in house. The broth itself is pretty flavorful but I still need to add some hoisin sauce and hot sauce to give it the right combination. I appreciated that they give you a lot of veggies that were all fresh. Normally pho Ga comes with ginger fish sauce, and this place did give it to you but you have to ask for it and the amount they give you is tiny. The ginger fish sauce is lighter in flavor than I'm used to. Service- is just OKAY. They came to take our order and then dropped off our Pho when it was ready, but besides that we never saw them again. Our waters were never refilled. We were never checked on... I don't even think I got my extra napkin I requested. Parking-is absolutely horrible they have a teeny tiny lot in the back and street parking but with all the surrounding businesses the parking is normally taken my advice is to come before or after rush-hour. If and when I am in the area I guess I wouldn't mind stopping back in here for a bowl of pho or to try any of their other items but I wouldn't go out my way just to eat here.

Wow. Last night was my first time having pho filet and learning the difference between pho from the south & north. Pho Bac (filet mignon pho) comes in only one size for $7.75. Meat was delicious with thin slices of ginger. My favorite part was the broth. It's completely different - clear and simple broth without different spices. Here, the noodles are wide like fettuccine and thin sliced rare beef cooked in hot broth. SOOOO good. Not even a huge fan of pho but I'm liking this pho bac. They don't have other vermicelli or rice dishes. Egg rolls are meh, nothing to rave about.

MY FAVORITE PHO PLACE EVER. I love it so much that I refuse to eat at any other pho establishment now...it just can't compare to the bliss served here in a stainless steel bowl. I always order the filet mignon pho. I much prefer this Northern style pho over the usual Southern style pho served at other pho restaurants. The soup is lighter in flavor, tastes like there's less MSG, uses thicker flatter noodles, and is topped with ginger shavings. The chunk filet mignon is also really soft! (And better than those dry chewy beef slices pho usually comes with.) UGH I just want to go back again just thinking about it. I think I could eat it literally every meal for the rest of my life...I could eat it pho-ever...

I love good pho. Pho Huynh makes good pho. Therefore I like Pho Huynh. Prolly my favorite Pho Place to eat at outside of homemade. I used to work in Rosemead and go to SGV and I can tell you there are MANY options to get pho. I mean to me, pho is never a bad option.. but the best option would be Pho Huynh. I mean you know it's good when they have nothing else on the menu. It's just Pho. So I mean if you came here hoping to order something else you tough out of luck. You just gonna have to settle for their delicious pho. Their mouth-watering rich flavored pho broth.. I can't tell you about the Pho Filet since I've never had it. I'm all about the other meats so that's why I've never ordered it. Tai Nam Gan is 99% of the time what I order at any pho place. Tai is rare steak, Nam is flank, and Gan is Tendon. Maybe I can ask for the Filet meat for my Tai next time.. hm better go back now. Anyways there's a parking lot in the back with a few spots. If that's full you can park on the street but I'd probably read the signs to make sure so your car won't disappear while you eat. The service here is aiteeee. But it's pho which is a pretty simple meal and doesn't really require meticulous attention to detail.

Came here for dinner with my family because my fiancé was craving pho bac. It's been about 2 years since we last came to this restaurant but I remembered the pho bac to be pretty good last time. This time, however, I wasn't nearly as impressed. Was the bowl always that small? Has the serving size shrunk? I'm not too sure, but for $8 the serving size was pretty small. I remember being unable to finish my food 2 years ago. This time I finished my bowl and still wasn't completely satisfied. The Good: + Light broth, not overly salty or MSG-y (but at the same time, not as flavorful as other places) + Filet mignon was tender and good + Private parking lot in the back + Clean bathroom The Bad: -Price/portion ratio is skewed, considering that this is a pho restaurant -Slow service--whenever I tried to get someone's attention they were always playing on their phone While the pho was still good, it definitely didn't leave the same impression as before. And definitely not something so amazing compared to other Vietnamese restaurants that I would pay $8 for a bowl.

First time trying out this place recemmoned by a friend! Service : wasnt greeted when walked in , servers attitude was a downer asked for a fork a couple times guess they forgot Food: i ordered the pho bac (#1 on the menu) with thin Noodles i guess it orginally comes with thicker white noodles loved the ginger it compliments the meat very well the only thing i didnt like was mu noodles were overly cooked so it was soggy . They also have spring rolls and egg rolls but no rice dishes or other vietnamese dishes. Location: they have a parking lot in the back and you can also street park as well . This place is very spacious compared to alot of pho resturants

Dude the hype is REAL. Came in this morning for some breakfast and honestly I didn't expect it to be that great even though everyone raves about this place. Ordered pho filet and I swear it came out within 20 seconds. Faster than clark kent changing into Superman. The metal bowl kept the pho hot longer than the regular bowls so that is a super plus for me. i freaking love the thick noodles and the ginger inside. I need to go back asap. I'm craving for this again even though I had it 3 hours ago.

I love this place!! You can find me and my family here every Sunday morning! You can't get anymore closer to home made than here!

This is definitely one of my favorite pho places. They offer plenty of herbs on the side, the noodles are cooked perfectly and the broth is rich in flavor and always hot.

First time here and I was so impressed! The parking in the back is a convenient and the place itself is large in size so we didn't have to wait at all. I went with the #2 Pho, the soup was delish and I could taste the ginger in their flavorful broth. The portions of meat ingredients were generous probably BC of all the competition. Pho Hoa is directly across the street. I'll definitely be returning here again for sure. Only con is that they don't accept plastic : (

My favorite pho place in town (and I don't even like pho)! I've been coming here for some time now and I'm happy to see that this place is getting the recognition it deserves. I just stopped by this past Sunday morning before going on a road trip. Parking was easy to find. Although in the afternoons it's a little harder, you can park on the small street on the side. They have just remodeled! The place is a little more modern and nicer now. Service is always very quick here, which is another reason why I love this place. I can always count on getting in and out within 45 minutes with a happy tummy! In addition to their remodel, they have just added new dishes to their menu! They used to only just have beef pho but now they have pho ga (chicken pho) and mien ga (glass noodle chicken soup). I can't wait to try it next time. I saw a few people get it and it looks good! Every single time I come here, I get the same thing. Pho Bac- filet mignon pho with ginger Side of beef balls It never disappoints. What I love about this place is their satay sauce on the side, you can put it in anything or on the side to dip! It's delicious! I like to put it on the side with hoison sauce. You should definitely stop by here to give it a try!

I'm giving 4 stars for their food and decor, but one star for their awful service. My brother and I had asked the waiter for extra items after he took our order. Not surprisingly when our food was delivered, he didn't bring us any of the things we requested. We had to ask them three times before any of the waiters brought anything to us. Also, the coffee that my husband ordered never came, but they sure charged us for it. Shocker! :/ They really need to hire new waiters because anyone you get they will have a shitty attitude. The waiters get annoyed with any requests even if it is for water. BEWARE!

tip: park in the back. closes at 7pm daily. Ordered number 4 which is $6.25 for a small. The place is rather roomy and clean. Ice on the ice water melted way too fast suggesting there's not enough ice in the water to keep it cool. the lack of ice is fine but they also skimped on the bean sprouts which is a travesty. The lemon is also on the small side. First thing you do when the bowl of noodles comes to you is taste the broth first with a spoon. With that said, the broth is on the salty side for the first taste. It didn't change after. Broth holds everything together and when its salty, it really ruined the entire meal; not to mention it was oily as well. At least the brisket was tender, but there were too many fatty pieces. Overall, I would rather go to pho filet.

One of my favorite spots for pho. I will literally commute here from Venice during non-traffic hours, once, maybe twice a month. Filet mignon pho ftw! They make good soda chanh, too. Everything is always fresh. Service is standard for a pho joint, can't really start asking for anything special or it will just get lost in translation. Though, they did have a fluent English-speaking server today (still forgot my request for a side of onion). There is a lady that is usually there, we can usually spot her around the kitchen area, very obvious that she is the owner and proudly running the show. It's nice to see that at any restaurant. Also if anyone was wondering why every pho place is using lemon instead of lime, it's because lime is crazy through-the-roof expensive right now, and has been for a while. No bahn-mi here in case you were wondering, but there is a place across the street called Mr. Baguette which I have yet to try.

This is my place for pho. When I crave pho, this is where I go. If I go somewhere else, I'll want to come back here to fix the unsatisfaction I feel from the other places. I don't come here as often as I want because I don't like eating alone. I always have to find someone to come with me because for some reason, my family members have some kind of beef with this place (hehe. Get it? Pun intended :P) I love when their pho comes out all piping hot and ready to be eaten. My order fluctuates between the pho bac and pho dac biet with banh tuoi (no tripe, please). Their broth is good; toss in some bean sprouts, fresh basil, hoisin sauce, and Sriracha..hold on, I'm drooling.. Service is average & prices are ok (ambiguous because they're constantly raising it, but ok). Still love this place and now it's nicer because of its face lift.

Plenty of meat and vegetables even with small order, impressed with their wonderful service - server came back to check how I was doing which seldom happens in Pho restaurants. Unfortunately, 1 star short because the MSG factor.

Great pho! Definitely 5 star but they need to work on their customer service. I deducted a star because sometimes decisions are not always based on how great the food was but how was your overall experience.

The only thing i like is the generosity of the meat. If you like meat, this is the place. Everything else is bad. Lack of communication and lack of hospitality. The soup is also like water. First and last time here with my girlfriend.

Best.Pho.Ever! Get #1! It comes in a metal bowl. #1 comes with ginger and thicker noodles, it is de-li-cious! The broth is very light and simple, but it gets me everytime! The meat is chunkier and very tender. If you like spicy, make sure you try the homemade chili oil, it is to die for. Yummm!!

  • Kelly K.

Love the Pho bac! A co-worker brought me here following a lengthy discussion about different pho restaurants. He promised something different and delicious. Boy was he right on! Apparently the pho is northern style. The broth had bits of julienne ginger, was not oily, had a clean taste, and was served piping hot. Noodles were wide and thin (I like them better) and perfect for slurping. Personally I'm not that much into meat. For me its all about the broth and noodles. But the filet cuts were tender and decent quality. The pho was accompanied by the usual plate of basil, herbs, bean sprouts, sliced jalapeños, and lime wedges. Parking is located in the back. Now that I've had pho bac, regular pho just isn't the same.

  • Irene T.

The pho broth is a bit too clear for my taste, but I'm sure this is a good place for them health nuts. I feel like throughout the years it has changed but its still good none the less, just not over the top good. However, I think I did order the wrong pho the last time I came here.. I got the rare steak pho when they are famous for their filet pho. The noodles are a bit thicker for the filet pho. Parking is very scarce.. tiny tiny parking space! Also, CASH ONLY!

I used to come here almost every weekend because I live so close by, but the prices tend to fluctuate, so I don't come as often anymore. The place has ample parking lot space although it can get filled quickly on weekends. Growing up eating pho, I never quite found a place that's really good, but pho huynh is the place I go to for pho! It's probably the ONLY place I'll go to for pho actually. I always get the pho tai bo vien (sliced beef & beef balls), and it never lets me down.

  • Ellie N.

Amazing pho and great service! I ordered the pho bac which is their filet mignon with thick rice noodles... And it was bomb. Broth was full of flavor and no msg was present. Owners were super adorable too, and service was quick and prompt food came out in literally a matter of minutes. Definitely will be coming back!

I am very pleased with how fast the service is here. I really like their pho, it's a good portion size. The meat is very tender. The broth is okay, it can be more flavorful though. What I like most here is the chili sauce that they have in the little glass jars, it's very good!

Vietnamese Please, I could eat this forever! Actually, Many Mexican guys Love Vietnamese!! The Chili Sauces, Chili, Lime, Bean Sprouts, Green Onion, Mint Leaves and Coriander were the perfect compliments to the savory broth, generous portion of beef brisket and soft, consistent noodles. The coriander tasted like mint leaf, known to my fellow Mexicans as "Yerba Buena." The bean sprouts added the crunch and texture while the green onions are always welcome in my food. The place was not large but they appeared to have room for 40, the parking lot was ok, street parking too, not too crowded on a Sunday. Service was ok, bathroom was small, one at a time. Many times I took my chopsticks, scooped up the noodle, scooped some beef, sprout, onion, put into the soup spoon, pour some chili and soup sauce and was in pure ectasy. So there you have it, a whole Yelp review of Pho, without any "What the Pho" references. How could I possibly think or attempt to be witty, this Pho left me weak!!!!! Song Parody of SWV's 1993 hit song "Weak" youtube.com/watch?v=h6qi… I don't know what your Pho has done to me But I feel it in such a tasty way However you cook what you do, keep on doing It's a flavor that I want to stay Cause your steaming juices are so fine With thoughts of eating you on my mind When I eat out you're the one I choose And the flavor comes from you I get so weak at the knees, from the Vietnamese I lose all control and something takes over me. In a daze, you are so amazing it's not a phase. I want you to stay By my side Flavor that can't hide Your Pho is a treat It knocks me right off of my feet. I can't explain why you're good Pho makes me weak. Time after time, this passion I tried to fight it But this Pho lures me, diet not holding on Resistance is down, Vietnamese amazing In my condition where my hunger has grown Cause your steaming juices are so fine With thoughts of eating you on my mind When I eat out you're the one I choose And the flavor comes from you I get so weak at the knees, from the Vietnamese I lose all control and something takes over me. In a daze, you are so amazing it's not a phase. I want to stay By my side Flavor that can't hide Your Pho is a treat It knocks me right off of my feet. I can't explain why you're good Pho makes me weak. I try hard to fight it. No way can I deny it. Your Pho can't be beat It makes me want to eat I get so weak at the knees, from the Vietnamese I lose all control and something takes over me. In a daze, you are so amazing it's not a phase. I want to stay By my side Flavor that can't hide Your Pho is a treat It knocks me right off of my feet. I can't explain why you're good Pho makes me weak.

I'm Vietnamese and honestly, there's NO pho as good as my mom's. But when my mom isn't feeling like making pho (I don't blame her, it takes up to 4-5 hours of simmering the broth alone), Pho Huynh is my savior. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Pho Huynh is located on Garvey, aka the land of pho restaurants. I'm not kidding, every block you pass, there's a pho place. The restaurant itself is standard - from the outside, it looks like a dingy house renovated into a business. It's right across from the plaza with Mr. Baguette & Pho Ha (another pho place). The inside is a lot nicer than you'd expect for a somewhat hole-in-the-wall restaurant; they just finished renovations recently, so the interior is clean & it's obvious they've had more than a fresh coat of paint done. It's relatively clean inside and the AC is always blasting (well at least on the 3-4 times I've been here this summer), which is super nice when you're all sweaty from eating a delicious bowl of pho. PARKING: They have their own lot in the back, and there's usually parking when I go on weekdays, around lunch time. There's also some street parking on the side & in the front. SERVICE: Typical Asian service. You go in, sometimes the servers are sitting around, chatting loudly about rather...profane topics in Vietnamese. But they're always quick to greet you and seat you (hey that rhymed hehehehe). But really, it's a "have a seat, take your order, here's your order, I'll be walking around the restaurant if you need me" kind of deal. At this point, this type of service is so commonplace in the SGV that I no longer even question or complain about it. PHO: I always order the Pho Dac Biet #1, which is made with filet mignon. Note that this pho comes with the thick kind of vermicelli, so if you prefer the thin one, put in a request beforehand! The broth is full of flavor and never too salty, which I LOVE. I hate when I go to a pho restaurant & it becomes apparent that they load their food with MSG when, after every bite, I find myself reaching for my glass of water. The meat itself is always medium rare when it's put into the broth, so that it ends up cooking itself throughout the meal. It's tender, juicy, and succulent. I've had pho from some places where the meat is just completely dry and tastes similar to beef jerky, but not at Pho Huynh. The filet mignon here actually IS filet mignon, instead of some knockoff bad quality beef, falsely advertised as filet mignon. Don't forget to garnish your pho with lots of lemon, some hoisin sauce, and BEAN SPROUTS! These are all complimentary and brought out by a server to you prior to your meal. TIP: My sister asks for a separate bowl of the broth's fat to put in, in case you want your broth to be more flavorful at the expense of your health OVERALL: Come here for good pho (not as good as my mom's, but hey, you can't win them all!) and decent service. Don't expect to be treated like you're at the Ritz Carlton though.

( Let me start by saying this for all my pho reviews... I'm not interested in clean bathrooms and good service... just amazing pho.. so my ratings are strictly on the soup) I have been a pho enthusiast for about 15 years (not gonna say im an expert but I eat a ton of pho)... and I have been on a bit of a Pho challenge adventure since moving to Los Angeles (trying about 20+ locations so far from Orange county up to El Monte) ... and as of right now Pho Huynh is at the top of my list... Filet mignon Pho: Clean broth with nice light finish... not too salty ... and a little kick of fresh ginger in every spoon... this Pho is a norther style if I am told so noodles were a little wider but still thin and nice consistantsy .. meat was generous and delicious .. enjoyed tho whole thing... a definite must try to pho fans in the LA area

The quality of the food for this place went down. I smell pig in my broth.. It's like they use dirty pig bones to cook the broth instead of cow bones. There's also a lot of msg in the broth, it makes me so thirsty after eating just the noodles only. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. Since there's better pho place around, I wouldn't miss coming back here.

Pros: -Great flavorful broth -Fresh crisp culantro leaves -Served in cool looking steel-aluminum bowls -Opens super early (7am!) Cons: -Flat, wide noodles by default; straight up fettuccine style -Filet mignon looked like chewed up meat or torn to bits, not worth getting -Shredded ginger put in the bowl, should've been on the side -Closes kinda early (7pm!) Noodle Rant: The whole time during breakfast, I kept looking over at the other tables to see if they have regular thin noodles because I wasn't a fan of their "fettuccine" style noodles. My friend verified that the thin noodles exist. That made me wonder why the dude who took our order didn't ask us what type of noodles we wanted. We did ask another dude at the register while paying and he told us next time, just ask for the other noodles. Uhm... so it seems like if it's your first time here, too bad - you're going to get the fettuccine noodles. Good marketing strategy, because I do want to come back here to try the their pho with the other "correct" noodles. So the next time: 1. Ask for the regular thin noodles 2. Ask for no shredded ginger 3. Ask for meat other than filet mignon 4. Don't ask for the check (like my friend did), they'll just point at the register, lol.

This pho-bulous place is for the working folks. Raise N Shine MFKR! Time to wake up and smell the PHO. I ain't gonna lie. All pho places taste the same to me. After you add some basil and lime juice in the soup, you really can not tell the difference. Love the fact that they open at 7am. I work hella early in the mornin' so if I gotta get my grub on, they gon havta open early as hell. Know what im sayin'? I aint actually ate there, so I can't tell you if the service is gravy. I've always called in for take out. Cuz a ninja's got bills to pay! Real talk. Aiite, im out, peace!

I ordered to go from here once and will not make the same mistake again! I ordered pho combo with everything but only discovered after got back in the office that I got nothing but well cooked beef and noodle and nothing else! And they charged me $11 for this? The staff wasn't friendly at all and just took the money with no 'hi' or 'bye'!! Will be spreading the word 'Don't go!' so others will not have the same experience!!

A broader noodle and a soup with hints of ginger, which reminds me of Chinese noodle soups for some reason. Fresh egg rolls, and great filet mignon, tastes real meaty

I've made many reviews on Pho restaurants and this is one of the better ones Yummy broth. Had rau ngai, which most pho places don't have because it's a more expensive herb. I don't think any of the sauces were watered down Steel bowl, nice touch, will return

This is the first time I've had pho bac - the filet mignon pho - and I can't say I was anything but impressed with the quality of the meat and broth. The venue itself - surprisingly clean and modern for a low-key pho restaurant! And oh god, between $6-$10 for a large bowl of pho with a solid proportion of noodles and meat? Food, get in my belly! The pho bac has a really intense clove flavor, but it is insanely delicious. I was never prone on Northern Vietnamese pho, but after Pho Huynh, I have quite possibly moved to the Northern side - give me that gamey Pho Ga and I'm good to go. Note - There's a parking lot! And lastly...food's fast, but service depends on the waiter - we asked for extra greens and they never got back to us.

Best pho place! Been here at least 1000 times , it is so cheap & so bomb! The services are really good too even on crowded days. The parking is ehh though

The pho here is the best! Their restrooms are really clean. The food is served quickly. Employees are kind. They give a generous amount of lime. Took off one star because of the parking lot though.

Let me start off by saying that I am an American of Vietnamese descent. So Pho is a very important dish to me. So maybe I've had better pho in the past few years. Maybe my memories has a weird nostalgia effect going on where experiences of the past seem better. Or maybe because I've learned how to make pho recently. But I swear the quality of the pho here has gone downhill over the past few years. Whenever I go to a Pho place, I always get a large bowl of Pho Tai. After one spoonful of the noodles and pho of the Pho Tai at this place, it hit me that something was wrong. The pho broth is significantly lighter in flavor and taste than in the past. Barely any salt nor any of that delicious bone marrow flavor. In other words, a sort of bland-ish Pho broth. With that said, french coffee wasn't too bad. But was a bit overpriced for the amount they give you. The pho was reasonably priced at around $5 to $6. But I've had far better pho (even without MSG for that matter) for that much money before. It's Vietnamese restaurant. So service is so-so like most Vietnamese restaurants I've been too. Don't expect friendliness or very helpful staff. Parking was a slight pain like always as sometimes there is no parking available. So I'm definitely not coming back here. The Pho is not as good as it use to be.

Oh yummy. I've had my fair share in the Westminster area and thought only the good stuff exists there. Well I come to find, while there are many in the SGV, this one definitely stands out. The portions are good, the meat is never ending, I just manage to keep finding another slice of beef in my order of the large Pho Tai. The broth is light and not too heavy, the noodles are just about the right texture. Not much else to say except perfection.

My fav Pho in the SGV by far. The "Pho Bac" is the only item I order. It has the flat noodle and they put ginger in there which gives the broth a unique taste. Delicious down to the last drop!

*This review was originally meant for Pho Filet on Garvey, in Rosemead. For what ever reason, I wrote this review for a restaurant I've never been to. Sorry.* My 5 star review is for their amazing Vietnamese iced coffee. It was really rich in flavor and with crushed iced made it 10x better. I also had the filet mignon pho, which was very tasty. It's a great 'I'm sick' soup. :)

We only ever come here because it's the only place we know to serve pho between hiking in Pasadena and home. The filet mignon pho is not as exciting as they claim it to be. I think the bowls are on the small size. Bowls only come in small and large, but the small is really small. There's a good amount of meat for it being a small, but there's not very much in terms of noodle. and so if you think a small is enoguh, tit's actually not going to tide you over. We ended up walking across the street to Mr. Baguette for an after-pho sammich. This place is strictly pho and nothing else. No spring rolls, no egg rolls, nada. And the broth is a little on the bland side. But at least it isn't heavy on the msg. Oh and the water is very tappy.

I don't know if I'd ever give a pho place anything more than 3 stars... because pho isn't amazing food to me. I go on a cold day when I'm craving soup and/or when I'm sick with a cold. And because I work in an area where the only soup options are pho. They only serve pho here, so if you're looking for more Vietnamese fare, keep walking down or up the street and you'll hit something very soon. I ordered the filet mignon pho, because I'm still not excited about raw meat floating in hot water. The filet is fully cooked. The broth is good, but I'm not an expert and very unpicky about pho broth. As long as it isn't very salty, I'm in. It had a good portion of meat, tons of noodles, and of course the generous side of fresh basil leaves to toss in to your liking. It's around $8-9 for the filet pho... and that's kind of on the expensive side for the type of restaurant, the location, and the quality. Although there were a lot of pieces, they're very thinly and roughly sliced. I'm not 100% convinced that it's truly beef tenderloin, but you don't come to a pho hole-in-the-wall to complain. Service is good... and extremely quick. It was probably 3 minutes after ordering when they brought the bowl. It's cash only, by the way. It's hot, it's good, and very quick. (hm, that could be taken many ways) Haha

hmm. I've only had the filet mignon pho so I can't say much about everything else. The meat is pretty tender and I couldn't even finish mine. (It was a small) I like how they use the wider rice noodles though, those are my FAVE! I'd say this place is more 3 1/2 stars.

You can catch me here at least once a week because this is my go-to place for pho. I LOVE that they put filet mignon in the Pho Bac, which is what I only ever order. The broth is amazing, the meat is delicious, add some sriracha and lime and those herbs on the plate and you've got the best comfort food ever. I can't ever order pho at other places and be satisfied the way that I am at Pho Huynh. Especially perfect for colds and hangovers. The only downside is that they close at 7pm so I'm never able to have any for dinner. And also they swear that they don't use MSG but I swear that immediately after eating here I go home and knock out for at least an hour. At least. Every time. Be prepared for some serious food coma. Annnddd, as if that wasn't enough, I finally tried their pho ga today, which was equally tasty and satisfying. Two of my favorite dishes made deliciously at the same place! Pho Huynh, I love you. I only wish you were closer to Pasadena. :(

$7.00 PHO??? But I got a Free Hat! I came here after the ravings of my buddies and broke my own rule of not eating Vietnamese outside of Bolsa. The pho was pretty good, but it did cost more than I usually pay. Six of us ordered Dac Biet Pho Bac and one ordered either Bo Vien or Pho Bo Vien (Beef Ball w/or with out rice noodle). Dac Biet Pho Bac-Menu Item#1-(3+ Stars) I was surprised when the waiter brought our food in a steel-type bowl. This was Nice! The first thing I tasted was just the broth. The broth was ok. After I added the siracha/hoison sauce it was pretty yummy. The noodles were ok. The meat was surprisingly good. Much better than I had expected. The meat, in my opinion, was what made this particular pho so tasty. Ambiance/Service This place is comfortable. It is upscale compared to the places I usually eat. They even had upscale tiles that looked like stone. The tables were nice. They had at least two flat screens. The place looked pretty clean. Service was pretty quick. Our waitress was nice. Maybe for most, this might justify the higher cost. Price-The reason I did not give 4 stars! The price with tax was a little over $7.00. Add the tip and you are at $8-$8.50. For Pho? Huh? Price is more than eating good pho in Bolsa. I think the price was the only real negative I have. Well we weren't in Bolsa. Even if the price was high, it was only higher by $1.00 OR $1.50. But, I can name two places right off the top of my head where you can get decent Pho for about 2.50 right now in Bolsa! There is a recession!! I am not even sure I am charged tax in Bolsa. Anyways, this probably was the best Pho I have had in this area. The sodas are only a buck. That is cheaper than other places. I also saw cafe sua da for $1.75 which is reasonable, depending on the size and quality. I did not try it. Free Hat! This place gave me a free Bright Yellow Hat (See Photo yelp.com/biz_photos/s8z5… )! It is very bright yellow and says "Pho Huynh is Number 1." All jokes aside, this is a pretty cool hat depending on what you where it with. I already wore it today. This hat has me tempted to give this place 4 stars and almost compensates for the higher price. I would like to come again and try more. Parking There is a small lot behind the restaurant. This lot offers convenience but it is difficult to maneuver. There is also street parking. So, Parking is good. Overall, this place was A-OK and then some! I think a slight price decrease, instead of increase, would be more appropriate for the immediate future. I would not drive out of my way to come here, but if I am in the area and craving pho then THIS IS THE PLACE! Thank You Pho Huynh for the pho and the cool hat!

I CAME. I ATE. I LEFT AND NOT COMING BACK The Pho Filet mingon aka Pho #2 was ok, the pieces of meat were tender and that was my favorite part. The broth was lacking flavor and i know its because there isn't a lot of MSG, but at the same time if the noodles are already bland you've got to at least add more pizzazz to your soup. The noodles aren't the traditional thin rice noodles, but they're the thick noodles and it just doesn't do the Pho justice. I left feeling hungry still and unsatisfied i won't be returning anytime soon.

Check in... And Check out for good. Literally the only good thing was the fancy looking menus. Everything else made me regret even trying this place. Coming into a Vietnamese pho place, I didn't have high expectations for the service. This place disappointed. The waiter that took out order seemed very impatient.... The restaurant messed up our order. Pho tai became tai nam. Pho bac... Their "house special", was lacking in flavor. For those trying it, it comes with thick noodles instead of the things banh pho. Attempted to order extra noodles cause the pho bac didn't fill me up, and even though the menu clearly said $. 50, but nope, waiter said $2.50. Oh and parking lot was full. Ended up parking on the street after a few minutes of waiting.

This place has lost tons of business but its still amazing in its own right. Granted I have not tried this spot in all its splendor and glory, but I have tried it recently and its filet mignon pho is one of the best if not one of the only ones available haha. For just under 8 bux u can try this little known treat and find out why this used to be the Rome of pho.

For as many boba places there are in the 626, there are just as many Pho noodle soup places as well. Pho Huynh is one of my top picks to go to. Came here during lunch time and ordered what I think everyone orders since it was #1 on the menu and in bold letters. Personally I like the noodles served at pho huynh compared to the normal thin noodles served at other pho restaurants. The broth is delicious! I always order extra onions, everyone should! Definiately will come back to Pho Huynh, get place for that "hangover remedy" or when I am sick, because truthfully that is the only time I go out and get Pho.

NOMNOMNOM.. A friend suggested that I meet him here. I'm usually not the person who eats pho/noodle + soup on a hot day, but I was kind of hungry, and I believe it was worth the sweat building on my forehead. I just ordered whatever my friend ordered, the filet mingon with thin noodles. The reason being is that a) I usually don't know what to order going to Vietnamese restaurants because I usually go with my mom and she does all the ordering in her native Vietnamese tongue and b) I used not to eat pho at restaurants because of the high level of MSG but I've gotten used to the idea. The metal bowl came pipping hot to our table, with the usual goodies. But I do kind of miss the banana flower that came with my plate back in the OC. Never the less, the meat was just basically pieces of meat, no random fillers and no guts. I'll probably come back to the place, if there's any reason to go down to El Monte.

This is my new favorite Pho restaurant. I know there are TONS of Pho places in SGV and what makes this place so special? Well I was a regular at the Pho Hien restaurants (old and new) and Noodle City before that. All good places. Pho Pasteur is good too. But this place is the best. 1. Their Pho Bac is awesome. Pho Bac is North Vietnamese version of Pho. It comes with fresh noodles instead of the reconstituted dried noodles. The meat they use is Filet Mignon. This makes it soft and tender. Their soup is a bit different than the regular Pho and they add ginger to the soup as well. It comes in their special metal bowl, this helps keep the soup hot. 2. You can get all the typical Pho varieties as well, just ask for the fresh noodles. 3. The restaurant is CLEAN! not like most other places. 4. They play sports on their TV's not Vietnamese music videos. 5. The place is ALWAYS packed but I've only had to wait once because the restaurant is pretty big. That was on Christmas or New Years, i forget which. Only bad thing is that they only accept CASH! But this is like most Asian places. Also remember to make yourself a dipping sauce for the meat! A bit of fish sauce, a good heaping spoonful or two of the Chilli sauce, a squeze of the Siracha hot sauce, and lemon. Take your meat and dip it in the sauce and enjoy! I think I'm gonna go for a bowl now. Okay.. Based on the other reviewer I had to try Pho FIlet. Two Thumbs way down... I have to give it to them that their meat was good. But thats about it. Their broth was MSG laden and Start Anise laden. I little bit of MSG is good but they over did it. That's not even the worst part. There was so much oil in the broth I couldn't finish it! That's normally my favorite part of having Pho! The restaurant is also small and dingy. The chili sauce is also not as good as Pho Huynh. I would not go back to Pho Filet. I'm pissed at myself for trying it.

When I was growing up these Hispanic kids from my class would always ask if I ate dog or my family did. I don't know what their fascination with us eating dogs is. It's just another yummy animal walking on four legs. Tender, juicy, and plentiful. But if I had the balls back then I would ask them, "Why does your dad stand outside of home depot everyday?" It would be a nice comeback. This is what I tell my therapist all the time. Felt like I was eating at an army cafeteria or on the streets of vietnam with the metal bowls. yelp.com/biz_photos/s8z5… Only other times I've eaten out of metal bowls has been at Korean tofu houses where they serve rice in small metal bowls. What's odd is that their signature bowl of pho is the only one served in the metal bowls. All of the other bowls is made of plastic that you get 3 for $10 at the Vietnamese supermarket. I'd hate to know what kind of stains they have at the bottom of the bowl. There is a pho place RIGHT ACROSS the street but they were completely empty while Pho Huynh had people waiting outside. That's a real testament to this place. People parked across the street and run over. Yes, they risked their lives for pho. Pho Huynh's Score - 87 Points

The filet mignon Pho is the bomb. The broth is not filled with MSG like other pho places aroung the area. And the chopped gingers add a nice kick to the broth. Only thing that might bother the people about the place is that the only things on the menu are variety of Pho. Please don't expect to order eggrolls, or springrolls here.

  • Annie H.

This place used to be good but not anymore. It's dirty and the workers don't seem to care. They go crazy with the MSG because I always leave with a headache and dehydrated. There are many other good pho restaurants in El Monte so do yourself a favor and skip this joint.

  • Scott T.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while and now that they're open late, I was finally able to. I'm told this is more of the Northern Vietnamese style of Pho... Wider noodles and more ginger. I'm not a pho expert so I can't say more than that, but I dug it. Probably good, too, to distinguish itself from all the other great pho joints (that are mostly Southern style) on Garvey. The restaurant itself is clean and nice and kinda dimly lit, unlike most Pho places (I know THAT much). There's also a parking lot in back which is always definitely cool. Add this to my [already huge] list of great pho places in the SGV...

I don't understand why my dad was raving about this place. It is supposedly his favorite all time pho place. Apparently they ONLY sell pho, no com tam (rice dishes) or bun (vermecilli) I went with my parents and he ordered me Pho Bac (Filet Mignon pho). It came in a beautiful, stainless, silver metalic bowl. To be honest, my usual pho is Pho Tai Sach so I can't really judge on their pho. It did take me by surprise that the noodle isn't pho noodle but rice noodle (white, thick, and flat). The ambience is very modern with traditional photographs. Their pho does come with a lot of meat. I like their sam bu luong. Either way I should try it a second time with their pho pai sach. Watch out, I'm coming for you pho huynh!

  • Anthony And Jess L.

Let me start by saying the pho' tai was pretty descent. I like that their menu is simple, all they have is different types of northern and southern style phos. This is definitely the place if you only want pho. It's pretty interesting that they serve all their pho dac in metal bowls which is pretty cool, wished all the phos came in those. The portions are generous but the large isn't very large. I have a big appetite and it doesn't seem there is a major difference between the small and large bowls. The service was good. We received 2 pho's within 1 minute of making our order, which I have no problem with that. We did order a Thai Tea but the server brought us regular tea, but I wasn't there for the Thai Tea......so oh well. A little disappointed but wasn't a big deal. I would come back again but this pho connoisseur wouldn't say it's one of my favorite places. Overall it was an ok place if you like basic pho. Street parking is available and there's also a small parking lot in the back. It usually gets really packed for breakfast and lunch.

    (3)
  • Samantha T.

After I've tried this place, I don't go anywhere for Pho anymore. Also, I crave their Pho Bac like once a week. The soup is so comforting and their chili is the best! I wish they sell their chili by the jar to take home!

  • I N.

Pretty busy place, their parking lot gets full quite often, so you may have to try to find parking on the streets. The place is quite big, there is an extended portion of the restaurant that they use when the main part gets too crowded. Smaller menu, which was nice, had the Pho Dac Biet, it was ok. Not very flavorful, a couple pieces of meat. You can get a quick meal here, they are pretty fast, service wise.

I love phoooooo! I usually order pho with the rare steak. The service is nice and the food came out really quick! The pho was delicious and they were very generous with the rare steak.

I love places that are inexpensive, fast and efficient with their service as well as tasty...you can obviously tell where I'm going with this. I usually come here for lunch when I'm craving pho and if I happen to be in the area. So, if you're in the area go try it out (You won't be disappointed). The noodles were not too soft and not too hard. After trying more pho places than I can remember, I believe this is my number 2 place to go to in SGV. The last time I went, I learned that you can actually order your bean sprouts pre-cooked/steamed. Lesson I learned that day: EAT MORE PHO learn more ways to eat it.

I can't totally remember the name of the other Pho Bac place we usually go to, but it was closed today, so we wound up at PH. Troi Oi, talk about happy accidents. And happy endings. PH has a lot of things on the menu, but none of them are the usual accoutrement you would expect to see at a pho place like goi cuon and cha gio ('we no have,' i overheard). PH has pho on the menu, and little else, and with good reason. I had a hard time finding the Pho Bac Filet on the menu until I realized that it was spelled out in huge typography at the (very top) of the first page, even above Pho Dac Biet Xe Lua. House Special Pho Bac Due perhaps in part to the fact that this was my first meal of the day and it was 4:30PM, Pho Huynh offered up one of the best bowls of Pho I've ever had in the States, outside of a private residence. The broth was complex yet light, laden with hand-cut wide noodles done perfectly and plenty of tender rare filet mignon, accented by slivered ginger in the Bac style. Sawtooth herb (ngo gai) was present and get this ... it comes in a big metal bowl. All praise Lord Pho. We'll be back.

It is ok , from my point of view. I went there b/c of the positive comments on Yelp and I tried their special pho here. Everything is just mediocre, from the broth, the meat, the noodle, to the service. Not too much need to mention.Period

Filet mignon in pho? Sounds strange to me. I grew up on pho, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to my pho. I ordered the Pho Bac, and to be completely honest, I was pretty disappointed. I'm accustomed to paying $5.75 tops for a bowl of pho, so having to fork over more of my hard earned dollars for filet mignon pho made me a bit skeptical. My first thought when the pho arrived? Is this place korean? Who uses metal bowls other than Koreans, especially for pho? Strange. I also noticed that the broth was very murky. SKETCH. Sorry, I'd like to see my noodles. There was also a considerable amount of oil in the soup. I love beef, and this filet mignon definitely didn't live up to the hype. I felt as though they just make themselves REALLY angry everyday and pulverize the crap out of a cheap cut of beef. Would I come here again? Probably not unless my dad (who lives on Pho, chocolate, and pineapple cake) dragged me here.

BEEF!! LOTS AND LOTS OF BEEF! This place is known for it's filet mignon pho. They're very generous with their beef portions, although the cut they use is more along the lines of diced beef tenderloin than filet mignon. The pho is of a Northern Vietnamese style, so the noodles they use are thicker than what is normally served at most pho joints in the area. The soup is not oily, very rich, and pure. The vegetables that accompany the bowl are very fresh and clean. Pho Huynh is a solid choice for a nice bowl of noodles. The parking lot in the back is tiny and the spaces are really small, but there's a lot of street parking along the residential street.

the pho was ok... ive had better elsewhere. noodles was too soft and soup was a bit bland. had to add more hoisin sauce to get the taste up to par.

By far still my favorite Pho joint. High lights: - TONS of meat. - Beef is absolutely tender and delicious. - Pho bowls are usually steaming hot, even at the end of the meal. - Pho usually comes within 10 minutes-- I have NEVER had a long wait for my pho here, ever. Low lights: - Horrible parking because it gets pretty crowded.

There's nothing like a big, steaming hot bowl of pho on a drizzly fall day. Pho Huynh is my new lunch time spot for days as such. The tasty soup, great service and prices will definitely keep me coming back. Walk in, take a seat and you will be greeted with a menu and water. Your order will come out in less than 5 minutes. At least it has every time I have eaten here. Also, only $6.00 for a big bowl of pho with filet? Absolutely! Pho Huynh has won over my pho loving heart. This will certainly be a lunch time regular during these coming winter months.

3.5 The pho dac biet with filet "minon" is good. The beef isn't soft and melt -in-your-mouth good. The broth is good and the fatter rice noodles are great.

I wouldn't say this is the best pho in LA county! Soup base was just okay, need improvement. Beef was tender but nothing special... It just they put a lot in that metal bowl. But I have to say the iced coffee is very strong, love it. Overall is okay, parking is small & good luck finding a street parking.

Last stop for Pho Crawl. Since there's no large or small size options, we just decided to have 2 regular bowl orders. This was one other store that I found also served Filet Mignon, so let's order that along with another bowl of #5. The broth for the filet and the regular Pho was different, the Filet had a more strong broth and better than the regular ones. The funny thing is that only Filet bowl order came in a Steel-aluminum like bowl, while the other Pho order just came with a plastic bowl. It looked like a jail house food than restaurant's food because of the steel-looking bowl, I assumed it's to keep the soup warmer for the filet to get completely cooked. However, the filet doesn't come in slices, it came like in a big chunk of minced meat. My regular Pho is just like any other regular Pho anywhere, nothing really stood out from it. Shauna opened one of the condiments and it has a weird beefy smell, but apparently she liked it when she mixed it with her meat. I think our Pho Crawl was getting shorter and shorter in the menu cause in this resto, they only have Pho to order, not appetizer, no special drinks and even when Shauna ordered soybean, it came in a can! And their website is using links from Yelp and myspace, we both thought it was funny when we saw that. Not sure about the parking in this place, cause we walked to this place. m pretty okay with the service, although they tried to fill the condiments (sriracha sauce) while we're still eating, so I would rather have them do that when we leave, cause it's not like they were running out of it. I guess they just wanted to clean up faster, not really sure about that. Overall, it's satisfying, not great, but not bad either.

Best Pho I ever had. This is a pretty interesting place. They open at 7AM. It was around 8:30AM when I went here and there was a lot of people inside. I don't think they have any waitresses here. There were a bunch of gangstery looking Asian guys dressed in normal clothes taking orders. Maybe this is where they all went after the Orion closed down? After ordering they served the food super fast. I think it was probably less then 2 minutes. I always order rare steak when I get Pho but it's usually never rare when they serve it. Here it was rare which was a nice surprise. The bowl was perfect. A lot of meat and noodles all packed in there pretty tight. Dr. Greenthumb would be proud. Also there was barely any fat on the meat. The sprouts are clean and look very fresh, white and pure. You can request a metal bowl here. I think I want to try that out next time. I want to give them 4 stars for not having any chick waitresses but since Kim Jon-il is dead I will be nice and give them 5.

This is a very mix review because some things are really good, some things are not so good.... Pho is excellent. I can honestly say BEST I have ever had. Judging from my reviews, it's something because I'm very particular with my pho and I have been to quite a few. Very chewy, not overcooked/undercooked. Doesn't have an odd noodle smell that some chewy pho has in other places. They don't give you that much noodles though in a small, I killed my bowl in a heart beat and wasn't super full like I normally would be :( Broth was ok, not too greasy which I really like, but not flavorful enough for me. Meat: I ordered Pho Tai. Meat was more than other places would have provide. Meat was tender but I know it's not the best quality. This place also costs $1 more than other places so I'm sure that's why they gave me a few slices extra of meat . ($6 for small bowl). Added meatball also in my pho, I think only costs 75 cents-$1? Service sucks. They don't check up on you, but not that I needed anything anyway. Parking sucks. The lot in the back is tiny, but we managed to find parking. Street parking is also available in the front. They only have pho dishes, no com tam or banh mi. Not even the famous egg rolls, what a bummer. I wanted to pick up something to go but I couldn't bring pho to work, that's just gross. Cash only, and you have to walk up and pay at the counter. I almost didn't want to leave tip, but I did on our table before leaving. P.S. Everyone around me seemed to order their specialty pho which is a bit different than the regular pho, and came in a silver bowl. I'm sure other yelpers will talk about that, and I might try it next time.

***the best Pho place in Los Angeles County, even though I also enjoy Pho Filet which is a block away. I live in Westwood and it's like 30 min drive away but every time I crave for pho, I think of Pho Huynh's Pho Bac. I always order Pho Bac. It comes out in a big aluminum bowl. I just love the look of it. Tasty pho. The waiters are nice. Fast service. I just don't like their ghetto parking.

This is the 2nd Best Pho Restaurant in my opinion. If you had a choice between this place and anywhere else it would always be Pho Huynh. Compared to Pho Hien Mai this place is better for the vast drink selections and the cleanliness and modern look of the restaurant. In terms of the broth it's very similar. (Rumor was it that the cook or owner of this spot worked at Pho Hien) My wife had the Pho Bac which she didn't like (she does order the Pho Bac at Pho Hien Mai). The meat was mushy and looked like mush. I tried it and it wasn't something that we're used to in Pho. The Hien Mai looks like dark red meat slices that softened up in the soup. I had the Pho Dac Biet and I liked it...not a lot...but it was very good. Similar to Pho Hien Mai. The meat was the same as Pho Hien Mai except for the Flank which I give the edge to Pho Hien Mai. The broth's difference between the two restaurants can be found in 2 parts. A) Nuoc Beo-- advantage Pho Hien Mai WHY?? Because you can smell the aroma of the star anaise and spices in it. B) The temperature - advantage Pho Hien Mai WHY?? Because it's SUPER HOT...hotter than Pho Huynh. Like a little brother picking on the big brother...Pho Hien Mai is still the superior place for Pho. But little brother is catching up and knows how to do business as this place is run smoothly!!!!

Yes, this is a "pho only" place, no spring rolls, no rice dishes, nothing! It seems that the building used to be a taco bell or some other establishment. The inside is crowded and the pace is quick. I had the usual, pho tai, which is rare steak pho. The cuts of meat were not as good as other places, although you do get a decent amount of it. It came out quickly as it usually does and I was able to be in and out in 20 minutes. This place is cash only so keep that in mind. I don't think I'll be back.

Their pho bac is delicious. It has filet mignon meat with fat pho noodles and thinly sliced ginger and NO MSG. The soup may be bland to certain people but you can tell it tastes very healthy. Note that they now close at 7pm. Minus 1 star because I tried to tell one of the waiters that they should update their yelp profile that they close at 7pm and not 9pm, all he did was shrug his shoulders like he didn't care.

After trying the Pho Bac, I can't look at any other pho the same way again. I've never heard of Pho Bac until I moved to Cali and so my cousin ordered it for me one day. He told me to add some type of oil into my bowl (I honestly forgot what it's called), but adding that oil definitely made the pho taste a WHOLE lot better. I also liked the fact that it had a thicker noodle. And it came with a lot of meat. Now, I crave for that pho all the time.

Ok wow their Pho Bac is off the hooook! Probably the freshest tasting Pho soup with hints of ginger this shit really hits the spot. The noodles are wider then regular Pho noodles but that shit just melts in your mouth. The Filet Mignon is nothing special it is what it is (not a fan of Filet Mignon). From reading other reviews from yelpers and from some Vietnamese friends this Pho comes from the northern region of Vietnam. Where ever this comes from its damn good! A must stop for me whenever I'm in the El Monte area. -420-

I wish I could say something about the level of msg in their pho but I can't because unlike others my body doesn't shrivel up from dehydration (although it did happen at Disneyland). But, what I can say is that the noodles in their pho are clearly fresh and made to order. They don't skimp on the beansprouts or cilantro or limes. You are always seated promptly no matter how busy they get. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the filet mignon. I think it's just to upscale customers as it doesn't come with anything else but the beef, which I thought was ok.

I still have to try more pho... I had tri tip and it was not what I expected but the broth and vegies made up for my expectation not being met. Tri tip was a little chewy, but that's the way it is. Over all it was good, I will not complain. The waiters looked like customers that decided to stay and work after their meal.... LOL (JK)

I decided to give this place a 2nd chance after my friend raved about the steel bowl Pho. First of all if you're popular for something ADVERTISE IT. The steel bowl was the first thing on the menu and the ONLY thing not translated in English. Food: I didn't like the Steel Bowl Pho at all....yes the meat was super tender but was way too chewy for my liking. The flavor is different....not as tasty and the noodles are different. I'd stick with regular pho...but then again I've had that here already and it wasn't that good. If you don't like pho and come in a group where someone doesn't like pho its best not to come here because they don't serve anything else. Service: The waiter was very weird...he was standing next to us as if we knew the menu my heart. After I asked for menus he stood there waiting for us to order. And when asked to give us some time he said "no problem" and stood right next to us. He also didn't seem to know English because we asked if No.2 was in a steel bowl in which he replied "Yes steel bowl." We ordered the No.2 and....it wasn't the steel bowl. Environment: I actually like the setting here. The decor is new compared to other pho places. Dinged for parking...there is no way I'm going to park my car outside of the lot (not the nicest area). Price: Prices are rather low but then again it comes with the territory. With so much competition near them the price has to be low. Food: 2 Service: 1 Environment: 3 Price: 4

Not a Mi Chang in the place. The place is a buzz with customers and it's the cacophony of scattered chatter that adds to the character of this joint. This is as ethnic a Vietnamese noodle shop you can find and my review will focus on the just the pho, as it was all we ate and it is after all called Pho Huynh. Show me a place that doesn't use MSG or sweet flour as the Vietnamese refer to it as, and I'll show you a pho that's not very tasty. This is not to say that I condone the over use of it, I just understand its value when it comes to a hot steaming bowl of the stuff. This place uses it sparingly and although the soup is slightly salty the broth is pretty tasty. Once the noodles settle in and diluted the soup a bit, you actually come out with a pretty nice tasting pho broth. We had 2 bowls of their pho. The traditional bowl you find around town and their specialized northern Pho which they served with chopped filet, thick noodles and in a metal bowl. They were both really good although I was instructed not to add any additional vegetable to the soup in the metal bowl. The Café su da (iced coffee) was excellent. Not sure I was deviate from the pho and try anything else though. There's parking in the back but this place get full real quick on a Saturday afternoon.

Man I really liked this place. Distinctly fresh and quality ingredients make it really shine, and that is saying something - vietnamese places as a whole are no weaklings when it comes to fresh ingredients. It had the more vermicelli-style noodles which I personally prefer, and the beef was more succulent steak-like than any other Pho place I've been to. The broth itself I felt was a little tame, could have been stronger - but certainly delicious. Special thanks to Cheng Cheng for showing me this delicious place!

I got a ticket for a left-turn red light at a corner of Artesia and Normandie where the photo-enforced cameras are. My fault, I wasn't paying attention and I ran a red light (I didn't see the FLASH go off so I was hoping I got away but nooooo~~~~!, a couple of weeks later I got a letter from the city's finest). This is leading to a traffic school in El Monte. This is leading to a breakfast at a Pho place in El Monte (Because I chose the class there on purpose so I can come here for breakfast, they open @ 7am. The class is just a couple of big blocks away, a lot of work to make this happen, heh). I'm no Pho expert but I seem to be addicted to it (What makes a Pho? Uhm..., that star thing that gives it unique flavor, you know.., rhymes with Jennifer Aniston or Gary Sinise something like that. What's that? Am I her fan? No, I think she's funny but no. Anyway I think it's called Anistonise). I ordered rare beef and brisket Pho and I was not disappointed. At first it looked like any ordinary good Pho. But the soup was great. I've yet to try it with lime or condiments because I just wanted to slurp that taste until it was all gone. It had a nice deep flavor with slightly sweet aftertaste. The noodles were fresh tasting; I also detected a nice fresh-out-of-the pot pasta aroma where soup hasn't gotten to yet. The beef? Sure, it was good, the rare beef was ok and it wasn't just a cardboard floating in soup. What woke me up, besides the great soup, was the brisket slices. They were so tasty they reminedd me of deviled ham (which I like). What woke me up part II: The brisket was melt in your mouth tender (You sure this is not pressed deviled ham? No, doesn't' look like it. Very nice). They have Pho and no other dishes, that's it, and I love it, a hardcore soup noodles only place, very cool.

Looking for Pho Bac? Don't mix this up with the Pho you get most commonly from most Pho places...this is made with fillet mignon (at least that's what were told). I personally don't like it, but my wife loves it. I've tried it here and a couple of other places, and this place does have the best Bac that I've had of any place I've tried. There regular Pho is ok, and they do have thuggish looking employees, but that's nothing to worry about...just keep looking at your food, and not at the workers. Give the place a try, they did expand there dinning space (though not the parking) so you should be able to get seated fairly quickly.

The broth is kinda weak...the mignon on the other hand is great. I think this place is great for those people who like their soup more on the milder and "clean" taste...myself, I prefer the more traditional and stronger herby tasting broth....or as some of you people call it..that odd smell/taste.....I wish there is a place that would combine the mignon meat with the stronger broth! Any vietnamese out there that could hook me up with recs?

Pho Huynh is my favorite place to get pho! So why the 3 stars? There are a number of reasons, first being there is nothing special about the broth used. It is pretty typical mildly flavored no pronounced coriander or anise flavors that decorate the more nuanced broths found in other pho specialized joints. Secondly, there is absolutely nothing special about the noodles. Just your regular run of the mill noodles. Now granted all pho places that I know of just use store bought rice noodles so I can not really knock them for that. So why is it my favorite? Well, they specialize just in pho here. You want banh xeo? Look else where. Bun bo hue? No way Jose. Com tam? Not here. Additionally, service is quick and attentive and there's never a long wait for the food after you order. The bowls are big enough for you to add all your herbs and they do include culantro which is often not in the herbal repertoire of most Vietnamese restaurants. But most importantly of all is the meat. The meat is what separates this place from any other pho restaurant I have been to. Succulent, tender filet mignon. Just order the pho bac, if you are here do not bother with the other ones. You are here to try the filet mignon pho bac. The meat just melts and breaks perfectly in your mouth and there's a handful of it in each bowl. This is the sole reason right now this is my favorite place to get pho. Either it means I need to find more pho places or other places need to step up their game. This place is cash only and do remember to ask for your onions because it usually does not come with onions. If I am feeling pho I am going Pho Huynh, but for any other Vietnamese dishes I am much better served elsewhere.

Drive by review: Their pho bac is so savory and flavorful, perhaps the best pho I had in a loooonnnng time. This is why.... 1) They use ginger 2) They serve it in these metal bowls 3) The filet mignon is beat up and easy to chew (call me lazy) 4) Reminds me of my grandmother's pho. Must try! Five stars!

I got the number 9, tai nam sach, which is what I've always ordered at pho restaurants. Let me start off with the taste of the pho. The soup was very bland and there was barely any meat or noodles, just mainly soup. When it comes to soup, I can definitely taste the differences within each one. The service was horrible. As we walked in, a man told us to sit down and as we sat down, he set the menus on the table. He came back with 2 glasses of water but he just set it on the table and walked away without saying a word. WE had to tell them that we're ready to order and even when he was taking the order, he didn't say anything. Not even "okay and for you?" When he brought our pho out, he set it on the table (not even knowing which is for who) and walked away. It felt like I had a server who wasn't able to speak. All in all, I had a bad experience.

  • Maian T.

The Pho bac is here very good, but with Pho Filet right down the street, I give the edge to Pho Filet based on the quality of meat (more tender, more beefy tasting), and a richer tasting, saltier broth. The regular pho broth has far too much MSG in it for my tastes. This fact that the pho is served from metal bowls did not at all influence my rating, but I will say that I found it very strange. Metal bowls = korean noodles, in my mind.

  • Calvin H.

Just by walking in you can tell this place is good. The scent of the very fragrant broth wafts out the door. The smell belied a very mild-tasting (but still excellent) broth. We weren't feeling spendy enough for filet mignon, so we ordered our pho with tai (thin slices of raw beef) and bo vien (meatballs)*. I really loved the meatballs because they actually had some texture to them, unlike the completely homogeneous balls of grayness that some pho shops use. The beef could have been sliced a teeeeny bit thinner, but it was good. The herbs and vegetables on the side were all fresh, which was a plus. The food is good, the shop is clean, the decor is interesting, and service was ridiculously quick (got our pho in 2 minutes, but we did come at 9am on a Monday). Verdict: 4 stars. Next time, I'm saving up to try the filet. * One trick that pho newbies might not know - you can order up pretty much any combination of cow parts in your pho, even if it's not on the menu. I don't think I've ever seen pho tai bo vien on a menu but it's what I almost invariably order on the first visit.

This is one of those "hit or miss" places, i've been going here for about a few years now and i only come back because my stepdad loves this place so much (i honestly do not know why). Their cooking and service is going down hill. The pho is under-cooked when served and the soup is not hot enough. They throw in a lot of onion and chives, they also give a stack of meat which might mean their quality in meat is not that high. Service takes awhile, they use to have a lot more waiters but i also believe they hired new ones which aren't that experienced. Anyways Overall food: hit or miss, sad Overall price: cheap Overall atmosphere: loud, cold Overall service: need to get their attention

Their management changed. Pho bac, which was their most famous dish, doesn't taste as delicious. The soup of their regular pho doesn't have any flavor. I am taking this place off my pho list. I would rather go to pho filet across the street from now

I initially wanted to give this place 4 stars, but then I realized I didn't have a reason to take a star off. This is one of the best bowls of pho tai I've had outside of Westminster. It's priced as it should be ($5-$6)...and the broth...SO GREAT. It's not drowned in oil (like some other bowls can be -__-). I love that they give you a lot of steak, because usually you get jipped. Next time I wanna try the filet mignon in that metal bowl! Oh and this place is cash only so be prepared. There's also a small parking lot in the back where you can park and enter.

Any place that only has Pho dishes on their menu and is very busy almost all the time has to be good right? Absolutely!! No rice, egg rolls, spring rolls, congee, bun, banh mi, etc. Pho and a variety of it is all they have. And they are damn good at it. One of your quick in-n-out meal kind of place, with affordable prices. My favorite, Pho Bac (Pho with medium flat noodles and filet mignon meat). I also ask for extra ginger, onions, and ngoc bao (did I spell that right?!) that flavor oil that comes with green onions. Usually the waiters are ready to take your order as soon as you sit down, so if you are in a hurry and know what you want, you can be in and out of here in under 30 min. Fair warning, parking is limited and this place gets busy.

Man... service here is quick! Very nice and clean establishment. They get really packed during lunch but the wait shouldn't be that long. The pho comes out nice and hot with a clear and flavorful broth, a lot of noodles and meat.

This place is really fast. Like, extremely. I like going here when there's a huge crater in my stomach, but I also am not a fan because everything is supposed to taste better when you're starving, but this place doesn't meet that requirement. I've only ever tried their pho and don't really know what else there is on the menu. I've had their pho bac (chopped beef chunks) and their pho bo vien (meatballs), as well as their pho tai (rare beef flanks). Without a doubt, the meats do not disappoint. I've eaten at places where they skimp out on good quality meat and serve the cheapest kinds. Not here, though. You can always count on their thinly sliced tender beefs and their whole quality meatballs (with tendon pieces intact!). But as a place that thrives on serving pho, their broth is so poorly made. It's like they only boiled up some beef or pork stock and let it simmer before they threw in some chives, basil, mints, and the noodles. It's so void of flavour that it's really unpleasant to eat. I like drinking the broth while slurping up the noodles and devouring the meat, but I cant do that here. It really tastes just like oily water. And because the broth is the most vital component in any pho dish, I have to give them a measly three stars.

This is my go-to place for Pho. And unlike other places, they ONLY serve Pho. When you concentrate on one thing, it's bound to be good and here, it's phenomenal. The soup base is very little MSG, lots of beef bones, and lots of flavor. I personally don't recommend the pho bac because I don't quite like the ginger or the noodles used. There's nothing wrong with them but I just like the usual pho noodles and the ginger seems to overpower the other flavors of the soup. I would recommend the Pho Tai Gan which is beef slices and tendon with the usual pho noodles. Oh and I have to say their satay sauce that they have on the table beats the hoisin and sriracha combination. And note that this place doesn't provide much service, it is simply a casual place where you can get a quick, inexpensive, and tasty meal.

Since the chef of Pho Hien moved over here and started his own business, this place had become the de-facto standard PHO place in SGV (while pho Hien, as we all know, is dying). Decent decor and price is reasonable, around $5-7 per bowl (they've raised the price slightly since opening) A few tips: - Like for Hien, all they got is beef PHO (so don't come here looking for anything else, they don't even have the chicken version of PHO). - Parking is bad, so avoid the lunch crown if you can - Inside is quite spacious, they've just opened another dining room so you're likely to get seated right away, and service is ultra quick, too!

Best place to get pho in SGV area The soup was extremely flavorful and delicious One of my favorite thing about this place is the super fast service I also love their good quality meat and generous size of rice noodles and vegetables If you're starving and want a quick good quality food, you definitely have to come here Pho Huynh is great to cure hangover or to make you feel better when you're sick Btw, dont forget to ask for their special sauce!! The place is pretty easy to find, just look for its bright signs along Garvey Ave.

I gotta say, this restaurant has some weird hours. I wish they'd open later than 6-6:30pm. I eat dinner at like 7:30pm at the earliest, c'mon dude! and wtheck, who reeeeally eats pho at 7AM?!! o_O okay but forget that for a second - holy fudgesicles, the pho is bombdiggity! filet mignon in pho?! eff yessssssssssssssss!!! be aware that this restaurant ONLY sells pho. don't come in here wanting a rice dish or some egg rolls - they don't have it. just order the filet mignon pho (#1 on the menu), it'll be enough, trust me! the steel bowl was too huge for me (but i'm pretty small so....). it's a bit pricier than your average pho restaurant, but remember, filet mignon pho isn't average haha. The service is good whenever I'm here, so no complaints about that. -1 star because when I want pho later than 6-6:30pm, I can't have it because this place closes so darn early! :( how irritating .

this place is so good, filet minon pho! it would be awesome if they had eggrolls too, but they only have pho, but it's worth it!

I seriously recommend this place with my reputation at stake. When i went to pay the bill I told the cashier to tell the chef this was probably the best pho i've eaten in a long time. She told me the chef was her dad. I only order the pho bac which came in a stainless steel bowl. The soup was made to perfection and the filet mignon was superb. I could tell this place did not resort to msg for its main flavor. If you read my reviews of a lot of places, you would think that i'm not happy with any place, but i do give this place 4 stars for its pho.

I was just here last Friday, and the pho was not good at all. The meat was okay but the soup had no flavor whatsoever. that is all..

soup not as kickin as Pho Pasteur, but the pho chin meat is damn good, extra thick extra tender. service doesnt exist, just walk over and tap them on the back. another negative is it's in bad part of el monte, daytime visit suggested.

My favorite Pho place ever! Fast, easy, and delicious! I've eaten there since it opened. I always order a large bowl of Pho Tai Bo Vien which is rare steak with vietnamese beef balls. Service is great. Great mom and pop pho place :) Pretty damn inexpensive too!

I can't count how many times I've been to this restaurant (must be well over a thousand times). I used to live down the street and grew up eating at Pho Huynh. I was first introduced to this gem when I was in grade school. I later found out that the owner's daughter went to the same school I did. How cool is that! Anyways..... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND #1 PHO BAC. Omg homegirl, this stuff is orgasmic. You will never go anywhere else for filet mignon noodles ever again! The meat is soft. The noodles are fresh, and the soup is rich in flavor. Be sure to order a side of the vinegar onion and beef butter/oil. It really compliments the soup well. Pho Huynh now accepts credit card transactions if the bill is over $10. YAY YAY YAY. My visits to Pho Huynh have been less frequent because of their former cash only policy, but with the new changes, I know I'll be coming back more often. =)

My first time trying Northern style pho! The Pho Bac with the filet mingon was really good! There was only one size for the Pho Bac - comes in a large metal bowl and was decently priced. I will definitely be back again the next time I'm in the area!

Really great pho. Authentic Vietnamese w/sides of liquid fat available upon request. They also open super early (7am) which makes it the go to place after an early morning workout or a verrrrrry late night. The vietnamese coffee was ok, though i wished that they let it drip at the table versus being in the back premade.

  • Rebecca C.

Nice decor and very modern. The menu is small with only two pages of food and drinks. Service is quick and prices are affordable. The most famous dish is their #1 Pho Bac. The metal bowl consists of skinny pho noodles, ginger, onions, broth, and minced filet. I thought the broth was okay... maybe because I'm used to all the MSG in pho broth that makes it taste so good. The minced filet meat was flavorful but it came in a big clump inside my soup. The ginger was also overpowering the soup. We also ordered flan and iced coffee. The iced coffee was good and the flan was smooth and silky.

Best filet Mignon pho in LA. Locally grown sprouts and fresh basil, super flavorful soup, and great meat. This is my go to lunch spot for pho.

Okay, so I eat pho a lot. For example, I thought I went pretty easy on my pho eating last week, but I realized on Sunday that I actually had it three times. I like to think that I know my pho. Back to the review: Pho Huynh is this real deal. I haven't had pho that tastes this good in a long, long time. The broth is on point. Full of flavor. Their meat is tender. Their service is sufficient. Their restaurant is clean. My ONLY two qualms with this place (and I'm being very nitpicky here) are that 1. They don't give you many onions when you ask for them and 2. You have to call the waiter for a refill on water. The quality of the pho is what's important here though, and whenever I'm in the 626 again, I'll be coming here. Well done, Pho Huynh!

Best pho place I've been too. I love their filet miñon pho. The broth is very tasty and the amount of food they serve you is great. We come here all the time and although we have tried other pho places this place is the best by far. Service is great and fast. We take the drive just to come here 3-4 times a month at times.

Took my team here for lunch and it was my first time. I think this place use to be something else or they remodeled. However the food was bomb and came in a timely manner. I ordered number one which is what you do at every pho restaurant because that's their best dish. Atleast that's what I have seen haha. I would revisit and definitely recommend

I don't see nor taste the hype. A good bowl of pho can be determined by the soup/broth. Prior to diving into my bowl of pho, I pick up my soup spoon and sip the soup. I was sooooo disappointed. The soup reminded me of a watered down pho. The after taste of pho was there but I wanted that rich beefy pho flavor from the tip of my tongue and down my mouth. This was sad. A good broth has the right balance between beef bones, spices, veggies and fat. Msg is flavorless mind I add you, it's just crystals (like meth) that make the mind believe the food is flavorful, chemical reaction. An interesting note is that they offer monster energy drinks.

the food was good (i'd give a 4 star for the food itself). i think i had the first one on the list. but what i wasn't pleased was that there was an insect in my friend's food. although they apologized, asked if she wanted a new bowl (who would? esp if she was almost done with her bowl of noodles lol), and didn't charge her for the food....i just don't think it's enough for me to go back. i was really grossed out. i think they should have just let us ate for free for the entire meal since it wasn't a lot anyways. I could be asking too much, but i'd want every customer to leave the restaurant happy, and in this case, i wasn't.

i used to only know the existence of skinny rice noodle they are in all pho. would have never know to order pho bac! It's the fatter rice noodle and it was delish! the texture was great! soup base tasted just all other pho except it's got ginger's zing to it. quite delicious! Their home made, or i believe it is, chilli paste is delicious too must try!

My boyfriend loves this place ! The only thing I get is the pho without the meat and it's pretty good ! Plus this place is cheap compared to some pho places ! My bowl was only $5 without the meat! I love their metal looking bowls! It looks like it's gonna be hot when you touch it, but it's not hot at all lol their Thai tea Is yummy so get that as well!

Wow! I thought I found my favorite pho spot (pho ha in pomona) until a friend encouraged me to try this place. The broth is amazing! Very authentic and clean taste. I should know ... I'm vietnamese! Lol the brisket is delicious here. I normally wouldn't order the meat since most places aren't fresh, but definitely glad I did. Been back 3 days in a row... Yummy!

Service is awesome and the food was delicious!! first timers so they informed us on the popular soups and which condiments to use, they even brought us Forks LOL. we went with the number 1Large on the menu and a side of egg rolls.

  • Kevin S.

The broth here is pretty good. Usual decent volume of meat and noodles that you'd expect from a SGV vietnamese restaurant as well. A large bowl will be tough for smaller people to finish! Need to do a better job of refilling water though..... to offset all the salt (or MSG?)

I wish that I didn't have to write this review but I just wanted to share my experience with all of you. Today was my first and last time ever eating here! Though the food was decent, it doesn't make up for the bad service. I learned my lesson about reading a menu thoroughly. Did you know that on the back of there menu in (very very small fine print) it says "prices of food and drinks are subject to change without notice" ???!!!! Wth? We ordered two large bowls of pho. On the menu, the price for a large bowl of pho was $6.75. (A great deal)! Although when we went up to pay they charged us $7.00 a bowl. $.25 more then stated on the menu. Honestly, $.25 is no big deal. $7.00 for a large bowl of pho is still totally worth it. But when we approached the cashier and asked why our bill was larger than we expected and asked for a receipt, he looked at us guiltily and didn't want to give us a receipt. We then asked him how much a large bowl of pho is, he answered with $7.85. Obviously it doesn't matter what price is on the menu, they just call out whatever price comes to mind at the time. The man yelled for another worker to come to the cashier. He spoke to her in Vietnamese. She looked at us and told us sarcastically "ohhhhh" pulled out a menu and pointed to the fine print stating that they are allowed to changed the price without notice. I am not concern about the couple cents extra that I paid. I am more frustrated with their unethical business practices. AVOID this place unless you want to risk not knowing how much your meal will actually cost!

    (1)
  • Gretchen R.

I've been here a few times for lunch and always forget they put ginger strips in the pho and I really dislike ginger. The prices are reasonable and the pho is really good--I've only had the #1 special in the silver bowl.

Randomly stumbled upon this place because there are like 10 other Pho places on the same block as this place, it turned out to be a pretty good place. Their specialty is the filet pho, I have tried this twice, once regular, but they serve a different type of noodle, so the 2nd time I tried it I ordered it with the "normal" pho noodles, I then came to the realization that the broth is actually quite different between the regular pho and the filet pho. In the end I would stick with their regular pho, has the broth flavor people come to expect when they think of pho, not to say that the filet isn't good, it just wasn't better than their regular pho for me. All in all, I come here quite often for the pho and I am never disappointed.

They changed the chicken pho and now the chicken is in a different platter, while the soup has only the pho and chicken liver. Really unappetizing. Will not eat here again.

The best part of this place is the pho. Pho is good! The broth is delicious! I don't mean to be mean, but I just look forward to the pho and nothing more. One thing that did bother me in one of my recent visits is that I had a bad cough and asked that my tai tea have no ice. The server repeats "no ice?" and I reply "no ice please I have a cough". He comes back, drops off the drinks and takes off. My drink was loaded with ice to the top. Literally touching the lid! That's fine, he must of forgotten what I said in the time frame of 1 minute, people make mistakes, no biggie! When he returns I tell him I had asked for my drink with no ice (with my raspy sick voice) and by the way I didn't take one sip of it. He gets bothered, doesn't say sorry or something, and takes the drink back. Keep in mind I wasn't mad or anything... He comes back with my cup filled half ways with tai tea! Are you serious? Must of been a 10oz cup with only 4-5 oz worth of tai tea. I MENTALLY threw it back at the server like a football and smacked him in the head with it. Must really kill them to fill up a 10oz cup with tai tea. Service isn't terrible but it isn't pleasant either. The server guys are dressed down with shirts untucked, wrinkled, dirty caps, not friendly. This is your service: "wat u wana orduh? and too drink? uh-k". You're lucky if they check back with you, so make sure you flag them down :o) I come for the pho like I said nothing more :o) yes I come here quite often and I'm used to the service :D

$5.95 for pho. Tried the #7. The beef is freaking soft and delicious. Unfortunately, the soup is bland and so are the noodles. Nice decor: Flat screens and modern furniture. Plenty of parking in the rear lot. Service is ok. Bottom line: not my first pick for pho, not even my second, but it will satisfy your pho cravings.

  • T T.

I ordered Pho Bac to go twice from here. When I went home and opened it, the beefs looked dead purple. For dine in, you'd never know what kind of beefs they put in your bowl :) Anyway I drove back and showed them but they gave me an ugly attitude. I'll never come back to this place again.

Three letters: MSG Broth is just OK, meat in their Dac Biet is tiny compared to many other places I have been to and their portion on the side vegetables was miserable. Their service sucked. Got a headache and super thirsty, definite signs of MSG poisoning. If your broth and ingredients are great no need for MSG. Everything was ordinary. Never going back. Stopped at Tito's Market after this place to get some Argentinian Empandas to complete filling me up.

No msg equals less flavor. Pho Filet across the street is definitely better.

Pho CANNOT get any better than this place! Pho heaven! I ordered Pho Bac (metal bowl)...massive portion if you don't have a big appetite. good to share with a friend and the bowl stayed super hot during the entire time I was devouring the noodle and meat. Reminds me of my mom's pho but slightly better :)

My first time here and I thoght it was pretty cool (: I like the Pho Tai, because it didn't have a lot of onions and they had a lot of noodles. The selections are pretty little, because they don't have rice and only pho, but it's prretty good (: The drinks arent that half bad. The water taste pretty well, not excellent. I like the beef balls too (: NOt that shabby. The atmosphere feels pretty clean. The service is pretty good and reallllyyy quick. We ordered and then 2-3 minutes it came and ot was fresh! I am probably coming back (:

  • Annita T.

    I. Love. Pho. Huynh. Pho dac biet with a side of pickled raw onions always does the trick. The broth isn't a dark color and oily like most other pho spots. The meat and noodles are plentiful and go so well with the side of onions mixed with a bit of hoisin, schiracha sauce, and lime juice. Their service is FAST. Place your order, grab and wipe down your utensils and be ready to chow down cause just like that, your food is ready. ** Stop looking, this is your hang over remedy people. *oh ya, pho filet has nothing on pho huynh. Enough said.

  • Alex B.

I eat Pho all the time, and there's is pretty damn good, beef choices only here though so no chicken... Other than that, it's a damn good quick, and I mean lightining quick stop for my lunch break.

I've travelled far and wide trying Pho from as many places as I can all over Southern California. From Alhambra to Orange County, and even Burbank. And I have to say hands down Pho Huynh is the best, and here's the secret. You have to ask for the "Special Sauce". I'm not sure what they put in there but it takes your Pho experience to a whole new level. Speaking of which I think I'm going to get some now.

    (5)
  • Thai N.

My wife and I had been wanting to try out Pho Huynh given the rave reviews on here. When we finally went this past weekend, we were less than thrilled. We found the pho to be bland, at best. There simply was no flavor in the broth, the meat was plopped in the bowl and all stuck together. There was little effort to have any presentation done. Neither one of us finished our pho. Needless to say, we were disappointed. In fairness to the place, most in the restaurant seemed to enjoy their pho. I'm willing to concede that our taste buds simply didn't match at Pho Huynh.

Woah, this menu only has pho! And not only that, it's only beef pho! But you can order a bowl of just noodles and no meat. So, I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone looking for a bowl of chicken pho and certainly not any thing like curry or rice dishes. They don't even have egg rolls so don't bother asking for that. We ordered the pho filet which came in a big steel bowl. We also got the #5 (rare and well-done steak, flank, brisket, tendon and tripe). After tasting the broths, I decided I liked the broth of the filet better though I preferred the noodles of the combo pho. I would ask to switch the noodles next time. They're very generous with the meat here. Although, I would break up the big ball of filet mignon next time as it cooked into one clump on top of the noodles. I poked around the condiments and opened up a jar of what I thought would be the chili sauce. Uh no, what's this? It seemed like some sort of oily beefy concoction...it went great with the meats coupled with a bit of hoisin sauce. Overall, I thought this place was more generous with their basil and bean sprouts. There were even three wedges of lime instead of the one at nearby pho joints. But they are a little bit more pricey. And even though everyone says they don't use MSG, I was very thirsty afterwards and had that MSG tongue after my meal here. I thought it was very funny that they printed their yelp address on the menu after their myspace page. The atmosphere was fairly busy even though it was after 3 p.m. on Saturday. The food came almost instantly. Oh, and don't bother with the soybean milk. It wasn't fresh. It's the Yeo's brand and is an "authentic Asian drink" as stated on the can. Ugh! I wished they served fresh soybean milk! Our total for two bowls of pho and one drink was about $16 with tip. CASH ONLY.

Bad service but great tasting chopped "off cut / trimming" of Filet Mignon Pho. It's expensive and only serves Pho and nothing else but they are good at it. Service is terrible but not the worst I have seen. Here is a little secret their Filet Mignon meat are actually more like trimmings off from a Filet Mignon medallion because the meat is inconsistently cut, taste, and color. Ask them to give you the meat separately and cook it yourself and you usually will end up with better trims of meat, less fat less ligaments and tendons.

Three words: FILET. MIGNON. BEEF. Who cares about the parking, what time they close, what neighborhood it's in, how clean the bathrooms are....we're here for the pho and only the pho (because that's all they serve lol)! My family always brings me here when I come visit from Chicago. The pho is unlike anything we have here in Chicago where the best pho place is mediocre at best. This place definitely ranks at the top of my list for all time favorite pho restaurants. I love the wide noodles! So much tastier than the usual thin pho noodles and something about them makes them so much fun to eat. But the filet mignon beef is what truly makes the dish - so soft, so tender, so melt-in-your mouth (literally) spectacularly deliciously yummy! Tell me where else you can find filet mignon beef with your pho?! no really - please tell me if you know of another place :) And pretty cheap too (compared to Chicago). BEST PHO EVER! Only complaint is that they put wayyy too much ice in the soda chanh and cam vat (orange juice). But I'll still be back next time I'm in town!

This is the perfect place for hangover pho. Of all the pho places I've been to, this place has the cleanest and healthiest broth I've ever tasted. The flavor was all still there but it was not nearly as oily as everywhere else I've been to. I've only had the pho here so I can't really say much for the other food. The place is pretty big so the wait's never that long and the prices are what you'd expect out of any pho place (cheap).

My favorite PHO place. I'm Vietnamese and Pho is my favorite meal. I really don't go to any PHO places but this one now. It's perfect for me, I find myself many times finishing all my noodles and dusting up all my soup. I try not to eat too much beef, so I reserve my chances here because its totally worth it. Forever and ever before I discovered this place I always use two sauces with my pho, a red chili sauce and a black hoisin sauce, mad decent combination but this place has a third dynamic, a third delicious Sate sauce, making it a power trio of sweet and spicy meat dipping sauce I put in a provided white sauce tray. I get the Pho Bac with extra meatballs in the bowl. I usually use up all the fresh greens and sprouts they hook up. So I chopstick some noodles into a spoon, make sure I got at least a piece of greens on top of that, grab a chunk of filet mignon, dip it in the super trio sauce, put that on the top of greens and noodles, sprinkle some pepper on it, squeeze a little lime on top of the beef, dip the full spoon of goodies into some soup, and enjoy every bite as such until its gone. I pay $9.05 which includes an ice tea. I always leave full with feeling hearty and happy with every experience. Thanks Pho Huynh!

Known for their fillet mignon pho. Offers thick rice noodles and not just vermicelli. Soup was good! Usually really packed during lunch hour. Parking available in the back. Souvenir: nice bright yellow Pho Huynh hat!

My favorite Pho place! Pho Bac is popular here. I usually get Pho Tai, but occasionally crave the Pho Bac. They got the soup base right! That is so important - the soup base! I've seen buckets of beef bones they use for their broth or bouillon. It's authentic alright! You can taste it! The taste is fabulous and nutritious too! Price and service is decent- My whole family's favorite Pho place :)

This may, arguably, have been a 3-star review for the following reasons: (1) they only serve pho (no other food items are on the menu); (2) the plate of mint leaves, sprouts, etc. was miniscule; (3) the 6:30 p.m. closing time is inconvenient for dinner; (4) street parking is sketchy, esp. at the odd liquor store nearby; and (5) they haven't updated their Myspace page in almost three months. However, the following observations warrant the "Yay! I'm a fan" designation: (1) the pho is tasty, even if not jaw-dropping, and was loaded with meat (esp. the #9); (2) ask and they'll give you an extra plate of leaves and sprouts; (3) at 6 pm, the place was nearly deserted, and the food came very quickly, and we were able to linger well past 6:30; (4) at 6:30, there's enough daylight to dispel the sketchiness of the street; (5) who gives a shit about Myspace? (6) everything is cheap: between two people, the bill was $11.07; and (7) the bathroom was clean. In closing, Yay! I'm a fan. I would say I'll return, but given the inundation of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I gotta try 'em all first before coming back.

Best pho in LA county so far. Don't even ask for goi cuon, because all they serve here is Pho... and drinks. That's it. Great broth - flavorful, nuanced and clean. I didn't taste too much MSG in it, which is great and sets it apart from most other pho joints. TONS of meat - more meat than I have ever seen in a bowl of pho before. So much meat that I had consumed all the noodles and still had meat left! WOW! Appropriate garnishes - including real Viet cilantro and lime wedges. Service was super-fast and the food was delicious. I ate every last morsel and consumed all the broth. I would have licked the bowl if I thought no one was looking. Tried their pennywort juice - very strong flavor, granular sugar on the tongue, but it tasted really fresh and evidently will cure me of leprosy. So THANK GOD I tried it. Pho Huynh is worth a drive - you aren't going to get any better pho in LA, that's for sure. Parking for use was no problem - right out front. Bowl of Pho Tai was $5.25, Pennywort drink: $2.25 Just make sure you arrive here hongray!!

Every once in a while I get an email from someone extolling my pho list. Indeed, it is long and one would think that I'm leaking MSG out my eyeballs at this point, but I have been meditating upon this whole operation as of late and believe I have a caveat to offer: I don't eat Pho Dac Biet. Kind of like how Thai restaurants can be judged on their Pad Thai (did they put ketchup in it or not?), I feel that the real baseline for pho houses is not their Pho Tai, but their Pho Dac Biet. And while I talk a lot of sass, I draw the line at certain comestibles-- oh, I'll eat bundaegi and maguey, but will not eat chicken feet or machitos, and tendon and intestines really skeeve me out. So alas, I miss out on all of the chewy goodness that is Pho Dac Biet. Even if you're kind of a weenie like me, though, you can still get a damn fine bowl of Pho Tai here. I can at least say that.

Been a while, but here's a legit 5 star review! Gotta try the Pho Bac. Different spices and smells than typical pho. Bac is from northern Vietnam, my friend taught me. Also, make sure to get the meat filet, which is a giant, flat meatball in your soup! If you don't like it, you prolly haven't had much pho. I understand that pho is really sort of a morning dish, and that's why restaurants like this open at 7am and close at 6pm. Why do you close so early? I can't even get there after work?!! PHO U!!!!! B/c you are bomb.

  • Christine V.

My favorite pho place in the san gabriel valley area. (Rating only based on "pho bac," aka filet mignon pho that comes in the metal bowl). Every time I come here, i order pho bac & OJ (fresh squeezed). It's a bit pricier than other pho places, but it's worth it. I like the broth b/c it's light & doesn't have that strong, artificial pho taste that other traditional pho places have; It's the closest flavor to homemade pho. But if you like strong flavor, then this is not the pho place for you. In terms of meat, it's soft & tender, but sometimes you'll get certain pieces that are a bit chewier.

Okay, so I share the same name as the restaurant, but I swear that I'm not biased...maybe a lil, but not a lot :) Tasty tasty tasty. Um, I would say the pho is...tasty. Especially, the pho filet, which is a nice little way to mix up the pho ritual. Sometimes, I feel the mood for the other offerings of vietnamese cuisine, but this is not the place to go for that. Pho only. They don't play around at this establishment. The plus(es): nice folks clean restaurant salty plum soda tv's

Portion size was plenty even for a small it filled me up. Meat was very good and seemed to be pretty fresh. Veggies and sprouts were very flavorful! Thai iced tea was yummy as always. I liked that our pho was served not more than 60 seconds after we ordered and it was perfectly hot. Parking in the rear behind the place is tight and the dumpster stinks on a hot day but you can park on the street to the side or in front also. It was just a little warm inside but other than that I really enjoyed it for my first visit!

This place is incredible. You walk in and immediately someone rushes up to you to ask how many in your party and to usher you to your table. The drink order gets taken right away, and if you're ready, you can order your food. It's always the pho filet mignon for me. About a minute later, I have my drink. Add another minute to that, and lunch is on the table. It's always good, consistent, healthy, and the service is as good as it gets. I've tested several pho places, some in nice areas, some in what I would have thought of as authentic asian areas, like Monterey Park and Alhambra. But for Vietnamese food, East Garvey Avenue is the place to be. You will get the best quality, the best service, and the best prices.

Very good pho. Very yummy... I came here because of the raving Yelp reviews and had to see for myself. I went around 2-3pm and ordered a pho tai, my favorite. The noodles were NOT the typical 2pm noodles that are stuck together in a ball and break off when I attempt to loosen them up. Noodles were fresh even hours after lunch time! This I think is a first. The soup could have been hotter, but it was good enough for me to forgive them for the non-scorching soup. They gave me so much meat, very tender meat, that I had to pass them on to my bf. I ordered the regular size, but seemed like a very generous portion for $5 bowl. Veggies are pretty fresh, lime was juicy....Generous amounts of MSG.... possibly more than generous. It's been several hours since I ate here and I am still thirsty... and we all fell asleep thanks to the yummy bowl of soup. This will probably be my #1 choice for pho, as long as I don't mind being MSG'd up for the rest of the day. Service was same as most Pho places, but they brought me a lot of extra onions when I asked. They didn't give us too much bean sprouts though. :) Still good.

I was hesitant about going here with my mom the first time because it's close to my house and it's in El Monte so we went somewhere else. But when we did go, we went 2-3 days straight in a row because I couldn't get enough and dragged my mom out with me. Parking is a little small but there's hardly anybody here ever. The hours are pretty hard to attract customers since they close around 6ish in the evening everyday but they do open as early as 7am. Pho for breakfast??? Yes, they only sell pho here which leaves only 10-15 items on the menu. I always order the first item on the menu and ask them to put more beef/steak and leave out the yucky stuff like tripe and the fatty-looking brown stuff. The meat are always easily edible, tender and tastes great with the brown sauce. I think they make their own brown sauce because it's extra smooth and tasty compared to the bottled ones at other pho places. Sometimes when you come, they might give you heated up bean sprouts which are perfect to throw into your bowl of pho. I've been eating pho since I was in the womb, so I know what good broth is. This place is the place to eat pho with good broth and meat if you're around the area. I don't know why it's always empty, probably because I always come an hour before they close, but this place is super clean. The service is better than other viet restaurants. They all wear orange, smile and listens to what you want in your order. I want pho now.

One of my favorite places to get Pho. The decor is super cute! I love it. Parking scares me very much. It's super crowded and small. Try finding a spot on the street instead. I've been eating Pho since I was little, but I don't really know what makes it great. All I know is that my taste buds like it! My choice of pho is with shrimp and not beef. They make it really well here. Try it out.

Their reputation in the Pho business precedes them - and it is well deserved. the Best Pho in the San Gabriel Valley. They specialize in pho and that is all they serve. Much respect! As the saying goes: "the jack of all trades is the master of none!" Well they master what they are good at. (Pho Pasteur take note!) I will refrain from my usual diatribe of a restaurant, regarding the environs and quality of the food itself. In this case, it is better left unsaid. You are just going to have to go and try it out yourself to appreciate how good it is.

me and the gf were dreaming about pho yesterday while braving the wind on hilltop park in signal hill for javier's bacon-wrapped hot dog event. john l. (not the infamous j-lewd, though he was there too) recommended this place. it was exactly where he said it was- across the street from mr. baguette and next to an auto repair shop. he told me to get the #1 pho with filet mignon in the metal bowl. at first, i was gunna go with the #2 meat combo which had the tendon, tripe etc. but after seeing just about everyone else in the house eating outta the metal bowl, i changed my order to the #1. so glad i did. the broth had a pleasant flavor. not strong nor salty, but just right. it was filled with green onion and came with plenty of garnishes- bean sprouts, lime, jalapeno slices, stalks of basil, and some leaf i didn't know the name of. the standard condiments (hoisin, sriracha sauce, fish sauce, chili oil, salt and pepper) were on every table. i really enjoyed the perfectly-boiled, fettuccine-sized rice noodles as well as the plentiful, diced, tender pieces of filet mignon. it provided the exclamation point for a fine lunch. the service was real quick and efficient. all they serve is a bunch of different pho, but there's really no reason to read past the #1. after the meal, i went up to the register to pay. the number of your table is on the soup spoon and chopsticks holder. sure, they're cash-only. but not having ten bucks in the wallet is a you problem.... ; )~

I may not be qualified to review this place because I've only been here once and only eaten one thing. But what I had was probably the bes Pho I've ever eaten. We live all the way in Pasadena, so this place isn't exactly around the corner. But we decided to come all the way here after hearing about how great this filet mignon Pho is. It's even better than they say it is. The broth is a rich dark color, and it tastes so beefy and flavorful. The filet mignon defintly gives this broth that extra beefy flavor. The meat itself itself is very tender and flavorful, but they don't give you very much. I just cannot stress how good this broth is. It's almost as if your drinking pure cow extract, it's that beefy and good. Based on the Pho alone, this place is amazing. I have never had Pho this good in a restaurant, ever.

Another morning another breakfast. However it's pho that's calling me and that's what we had. The beef bowls came in giant steelware that was as big as my head. The crumbled beef was lovely and the broth was very good as well. The noodles were silky and plentiful. They do have lots of minced ginger on top so be warned if you don't like ginger. Nice table settings and with the exception of pesky flies near the back door, it was relatively clean. What docked me down the stars racket was the fact that I found a hair embedded in my beef bits! Nasty! I knew it couldnt have been mine cause it was definitely sticking out of a beef ball, ewww! After that I couldn't eat my bowl anymore. T_T.

This place is in the middle of nowhere but man is the pho good! Someone recommended this place to me and I decided to try it out. He told me to check out the filet mignon pho -- #1 on the menu. After gobbling down the pho -- I would have to say that it is the single best bowl of Pho I have ever had. The filet mignon was tender and juicy and the soup was perfect. The service was good too --- especially from the cashier lady in the front -- she let me go to the bank to get some money to pay for the meal since I forgot to bring cash. Recently they expanded their store -- so now it is not as cramped. The only negative things about this place were: 1) too little parking 2) they close early so dinner is usually not an option 3) not the most cleanly place

This is the BEST pho in the world. I think it's even better than pho pasteur. They don't serve other dish other than pho. The price is reasonable and the portion is great for me. I always order pho number 1. It's the special one, fully loaded like top of the line lexus. One of the special condiment is sauce made from chilly pepper and lemon grass. I have never had this at any other place before. YUMS! Our food came in fast , just minutes after ordering. I don't think they open for dinner , so go there for breakfast or lunch.

I've been here like a billion times and have not wrote a review for it... Until Now... OK personally this is not the best place for Pho IMO but I do come here a lot since the person I come here with loves the places and swears by it. So the place is decent; Broth is good, Portions are reasonable, service is adequate, nothing special from any other Pho place besides their special #1 of northern style Pho serve in Steel-Aluminum Bowls. Overall decent place but there are better Pho places in the area IMO.

Close to nearby industrial buildings and in the midst of auto repair shops and taquerias in South El Monte is Pho Huynh, on the farther outskirts of the asian district that is centered in Rosemead. Pho Huynh not only specializes in Pho exclusively, they specialize in only Pho Bo....Beef Pho exclusively! Yup, 22 different combinations of Pho Bo. So if you remember statistics, you need to take the ingredients of rare steak, well done flank, brisket, tendon, tripe and beef ball, and calculate how many permutations there are, and of these, which combinations they do not offer to add up 22. Here's a hint: Beef Ball (Bo Vien) is only offered separately with soup or noodle soup. And there are 2 Dac Biet (specials). OK, put down your #2 pencils now! You can't calculate this logically. There is no Ga (chicken) offered. No Ca (fish). Just Ba. (mature woman) running the cash register to collect for your Pho Bo. I have a sneaky suspicion that the owners are Chinese Vietnamese. Still Vietnamese, but maybe of Chinese descent? Or maybe because there are a fair amount of Chinese in the surrounding cities, the menu is English, Chinese and Vietnamese. (hmmm, is Huynh like the Mandarin word for Good, as in the answer to Ni Hau Ma? Huynh Hau! "How are you? Very Good!")? PS - you can also order noodles without meat, only $3.25 Regular bowls are $4.75. Large is $5.50 The soup has pretty good flavor, not the best as the other neophites have come to believe, but pretty good. Hell, if all you serve is Beef Rice Noodle Soup, you should become pretty good at it! Just sayin'! There is parking in the rear. Not much on the outside, but decent looking inside and pretty clean for a Pho dive in S. El Monte.

What is up with all the 5 stars. Do these people really know how a real bowl of Pho should taste like? I know the owner/main cook of these restaurant for many years. He used to cook at Pho Hien restaurant (a few blocks down) and when Pho Hien sold to another owner, this cook/owner guy quit and opened his own restaurant. I came to visit him and tasted his Pho and only went back once or twice for the last few years because I think the pho here is ok but not good enough for me to come back often. Pho Hien was better then this place before the last owner sold it a few years ago to go back and live in Vietnam. As for Pho Huynh, I give it 2.5 stars and .5 star bonus for the owner being super nice to me whenever I come.

I usually prefer vermicelli or Vietnamese rice dishes because pho is hot, temperature wise, and it makes me sweat. And that in turn makes me irritable, ergo, I don't crave pho on a regular. But we happened to eat here on a cold and rainy day (which made a world of difference to me) and I liked it a lot. The pho bac, or filet mignon pho, was delicious. And if we have to go back, then I won't go kicking and screaming.

3.5 but rounded up to 4. So let me first tell you...1) I'm Vietnamese and 2) my grandpa makes the best pho ever! So let's just say, I know my PHO. Now that we got that out of the way, Pho Huynh has some pretty good pho. I was first introduced to Pho Bac here (northern Vietnamese style pho) and I LOVED it! I liked that it was a new twist on something that I've had since I was practically in the womb. They excell in the two "musts" that I like about my pho 1) the broth has enough "essence" (flavor of herbs and such) and 2) the temp of the broth is always nice and HOT. The only thing I don't like about the pho bac is the pieces of ginger...i like it for the "essence" but don't like biting into it. *passes over to BF* Other things: -They don't serve anything else but PHO here -Clean -Recently expanded -Better pho bac than the restaurant Pho Bac on Valley and Del Mar -Slightly ghetto area -Parking in the back lot sucks, mostly on the weekends though when they get super busy -They close EARLY! at 6:30pm. So no dinner or late-night pho here.

i dont see how this place can get more than 3-4 stars. the broth they use is almost bland and theyre stingy with the bean sprouts, which arent too fresh. i ordered the number 1. it wasnt bad, they were pretty generous with the meat, but it really didnt taste like anything extraordinary. if i was in the area, id stop by, but i wont go out of my way to go here again.

First visit - ordered the STEEL BOWL ... which is PHO BAC. It was okay, but better without the tons of shredded ginger inside. It made the soup hotter. The meat was more in chunks ...very different from the regular PHO. I'll stick to the regular PHO next time. The place is hot inside...no AIR CON? Luckily, we sat near the front door with a little breeze from the outside. Order was fast...they don't give you a menu until you ask for one. I guess most patrons are return customers and know what they want to order already. The veggie was fresh. The PHO came out fast and it was Delicious. The decor was average and cleaner than others. parking sucks...so I would recommend parking in the front on the side streets. turn up the AC!!!!

Best Pho around. Super fast service. Best little dive for Pho around. It's not fancy, and there is no parking (or its always an adventure to find parking), but worth the trip

I love Pho Huynh. They have Vietnamese authentic Pho. I love the Pho Bac Filet the most. They have this interesting Pho bowl that traps the heat inside the bowl leaving it Hot until you finish the last drop of Pho. If I ever want Pho, this is the only place I would recommend. The other Pho places are not that special, they all have the same old boring type of noodle with beef broth. If you ever want to see what real Pho should taste like, definitely try this place out if you are in town!

  • Jay T.

With all of the pho places in the San Gabriel Valley, it's hard to find one that is really good. I really enjoyed the Pho Bac, had Northern Vietnamese style a few times, and this is one of the better ones that I've had. Love the simple menu, service is fast, and when you're finished you go up to the cashier and let them know which table number you were at. They have the check there and it's Cash Only. Parking is available in the back or on the street. I will be back.

The Best Pho EVER!!!!!!!! I only eat the fillet mignon pho. It is the BEST! The broth, the tender meat, and all the condiments are fresh. The service is great and best of all, it's fast service. The prices are very reasonable but can become costly if you eat it 2-3 times a week. ;)

This pho location was recommended by our very own mechanic helper. He didn't let us down one bit! The pho here leaves your brain lingering for more but your stomach is telling you, "STOP...you're full!" Once you view the outer appearance of the restaurant, the first thought that came into my mind was, "dirty." It didn't look appealing at all. Let's just say that the owner didnt take the time to remodel the outside but the interior was fairly new. Once I walked into the restaurant with my mom, we recognize some familiar waiter faces. They used to work at the pho restaurant down the street. As I sit down at the table, our waiter friend brought us the drinks we usually order: one hot tea and one iced tea. YUP! He knows us best! I typically order the small Pho Tai Bo Vien and I gots to say, the broth was clear and smelled sooo goood! There is definitely more meat than noodle. I also order cooked bean sprouts so I just poured the whole dish into my bowl. Whenever ANYONE wants to feed a pho craving, this is the place to be. It' cheap, yummy and addicting!

Pho Huynh is the real deal. I've been to just about every pho restaurant from New York to L.A. and finally stopped searching when I found this place. I drive almost an hour every week for their pho. The broth is flavorful and light, the meat plentiful, service is fast and prices are reasonable. They only serve pho and don't mess around with spring rolls and everything else, which is as it should be. One of the best parts about my upcoming move to a new house is it'll shave 30 minutes off my commute to Pho Huynh. Love this place.

  • Maggie C.

Parking sux at this place. I couldn't get out from the parking lot for 3 minutes because it was so small. Backed up my car and a giant SUV blocked the exit but they waved and apologized to me. Maybe I should leave my car there, go to the port of Long Beach and wait for everyone to leave =P I would give 2.5 stars for the pho but I got a yellow "Pho Huynh is #1" hat so there is the extra .5 star. The place itself itself is clean and nice; but not cozy enough. The price is not as cheap as the other pho places..but other pho places don't give you a free hat, do they? What can I say...I have a thing for bright yellow hat.

To be honest, Their Pho Bac is better than their other Pho and compare to other restaurants in town. A decent place to eat Pho EXCEPT for that one guy in that restaurant (maybe the owner's son) is EXTREMLY impolite or (mat da.y) I witnessed he was cussing (of course, not in front of that customer but lound enough for me to hear) at one customer for being so "f**king paranoid for asking him to crank up the AC"...????? I also heard many complaints from my other friends about that same guy. Make me think twice about eating Pho there. Maybe you have good foods but it is noway to treat your customers like dirt.

Before Pho Huynh, I refused to believe that there would be good pho in LA. But this place proved me wrong. Pho is the only food item on the menu. I ordered a small bowl of Pho Tai, Chin: yummy meat (no funky smell like it's old meat) and fragrant broth. "Small" here means regular/slightly big compared to other neighboring pho joints (i.e. Golden Deli). "Large" looked HUGE so I didn't go there. The lady gave me a big plate of lime, bean sprouts, basil, and culantro (aka ngo gai / thorny coriander / saw-leaf herb etc). Ngo gai is a more expensive herb than basil because it takes longer to grow. A legit pho place will most likely supply you with a few pieces of ngo gai. I haven't confirmed this yet but there is little MSG in the pho. Why? Because I didn't have to drink 2 gallons of water and had to deal with a sandy tongue *cough* Golden Deli * cough. One tiny complaint about this place is that the broth pre-lime/hoisin/sriracha was a tiny bit saltier than Quan Hop and Pho Kimmy. But overall, I enjoyed it, and so did the other patrons (most were Vietnamese / Asian). I plan on coming back to double check the quality. Maybe when I'm less hungry and with company. P.S. Order the ca phe sua da. It's seriously liquid crack!

this is one of the only pho places that i go to. 1) my mother eats here. but i think its because she gave them some pointers. 2) they make pho. thats it, its called pho huynh what else do you expect to eat? i dont go to sushi asking for ramen. so eat pho. and pho is traditionally with beef. 3) i'm giving 3 stars because they have hot soup. yes hot. not kinda warm hot but piping hot. thats how its suppose to be served. love the noodles. and when you order togo i feel as though the portions double.. but thats just my experience.

    (3)
  • Patrick T.

very good pho. had the rare steak of course, my all time favorite and only option. i must say that this place gives very sufficient proportions of steak. thus 5 stars for that, the quick services and tasty soup!

I love the environment because the way they decorated their restaurant is great the only thing that bugged me is when parking was packed so badly that's what i hated the most overall it's good pho for good price

I've been to this place several times before, but I've never felt compelled to write a review on it, simply because I knew that, unlike my Vietnamese bf, my taste buds aren't highly attuned to the slight differences between good and better pho. Besides, he has never taken me to a pho place that is less than acceptable to his standards, so I never really knew what bad pho tasted like... ...until we ate pho in Iowa. The expected flood of food enjoyment with my initial sip of Iowa-style pho quickly ebbed to a sad reality: "Is this canned beef broth I taste in my pho?" I thought as I saw my partner's face grew disappointed after his first taste of his highly sought commodity. So, here's to the pho place here that's good enough for me to say that this is what pho should be like to my taste buds. I'm sure there's better places in Santa Ana for those who are hardcore into their pho, but hey, what do I know? I didn't grow up eating this stuff, so this place is good enough for me. This place is clean and busy with mostly Vietnamese customers. I usually have my foodie-in-crime order pho dac biet for me as they usually don't give out menus, unless if you request it, I think. Don't forget to order cafe sua dah for those who love their coffee strong.

  • Carlos G.

This place gets quite a few mixed reviews. yes as everyone says they only have pho and thats it. I tried the #1 that everyone keeps raving about (the filet mignon) and not not happy one bit with the outcome. The soup base was flavorless which had to be compensated with lots of hot sauce and hoisin sauce (plus all the msg it already came with). My pet peeve is if i need to add ANY sauces to my pho its really not worth my time. The noodles are more a chow fun then your usual ramen style looking pho. I do not plan to revisit this place. I would have given it a 1-star if it had not been for the meat that was well portioned.

I've tried a couple of pho places around sgv, but this is by far the best place to get your pho tai/bac fix. They load up your bowl with a generous amount of meat. Their veggies are actually fresh, I usually have to pick certain pieces of the veggies to put in my bowl because they look old, but not here. You can't go wrong coming here, quick service and good food.

  • Michael C.

Awesome pho. Amazing delicate and light tasting broth, great thin and thick rice noodles, and soft and tender meat. The #1, filet mignon is their specialty but everything else is just as great. Fast service and great prices to top it off.

    (5)
  • Ben K.

I have to agree with all the positive reviews about this restaurant. They are famous for the Pho in the steel bowl aka Northern Pho. At least that's what my Vietnamese g/f tells me. The thick rice noodle is great, and the beef filet that comes with your pho is amazingly soft and delicate. The meat just melts in your mouth. The broth isn't as strong as the regular pho but the meat, oh the meat. So just try it, it's busy for a reason. Too bad the close so early. Clean place, fast service, nice tables and chairs, a cozy little place. The parking does suck, but oh well.

I recommend the shrimp soup...tasty and has really big shrimp, prepare with all the fixin's bean sprouts, sweet sour sauce, hot sauce, jalapenos, and those aromatic herbs that they come with

I've been here a couple of times now and it is consistant and they have good noodles and the meat is fresh and chopped and has good flavor, the problem is it is only open in the morning and lunch and closed for dinner. Maybe a very early dinner but by 6:30 it is closed.

This is your place to get a simple pho fix. I usually get pho tai, but sometimes i get the fatty pieces too. The pieces are hit and miss; sometimes they're just slabs of fat but sometimes they're really good pieces of brisket. Hopefully you don't need a menu because I've been here probably 20+ times and have never seen customers actually use them. This would be your standard place to get fast, cheap, good pho with no frills and minimal crowding.

Accurate description- good solid bowl of pho. Very quick service and a clean atmosphere.

I work around the area and this place must be one of the best PHO in SGV. They only do pho, no rice, no stews, no egg rolls. Just plain old PHO. Make sure to get the steel bowl its their special meat and broth combined with a different kind of noddle. The staff is friendly the service is fast and the price is reasonable, parking well might be a little difficult at times during prime time but over all you'll find a place to park. A must for 2009.

Shrimp Noodle Pho Is Awesome. The Shrimp Were Very Good Size The Portion That Was Provided With The Noodle Was Great. The Broth Is Very Tasty Has Good Hearty Flavor. Cooked Bean Sprouts And Plenty Of Lemon I Would Recommend To Anyone Ordering The Shrimp Noodle. Filet Mignon Is Good, But I Am Personally More Into Surf Than Turf So I Would Recommend To Stick With The Shrimp Pho Any Day. The Service I Received Was Awesome Everyone Was All Dressed In Orange With Their Cool Hats On The Place Was Clean And Modern Unlike Most Of The Viet Places I Have Seen. Pho Huynh Definitely Deserves 5 Stars And More Of That For The Great Friendly Service And The Tasty Shrimp Pho.

This place was good - the broth was yummy. It only has beef pho, nothing else, but it's probably enough. The service was pretty quick, and fairly inexpensive. It's in a convenient location, so I'll probably be coming back again for the good and cheap pho.

Aw! The best!! We're hooked since the first time we were introduced here. The soup was perfect and the fillet mignon was phenomenal. They serve quickly too! Like less than a minute, literally :-) And the service is above average. Parking is a little hard if you come in at rush hours but it's ok. We can deal with it and so do you! Come and enjoy

This is the second time I've had Pho. This place was so good, it made me forget the first time. My Vietnamese friend Stef recommend I have the Tai Chin Gau Gan Sach. The broth was clear, fragrant and so tasty. It was not heavily seasoned and served at the perfect temperature. The Pho included rice noodles (which I love) well done flank steak, brisket and tendon. It also came with the traditional add-ins of sliced onions, scallions and sprouts. If you've never had Pho, add these in and stir. A squeeze of lime brings it all together. I had a choice of tea or Vietnamese coffee. I, of course, went for the coffee which they give you in a "to go" up. Perfect if you don't finish it all during your meal. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated quickly and the food was up in minutes. Don't pass this place up, it's Pho-licious!

the restaurant is family owned and the childern run the place. if you're looking for more than pho, sorry my friends, look elsewhere. the name on the sign says PHO, not fusion, Huynh. my wife and I go here almost religiously every Sunday afternoon for the last 2 years or so. I've been to a lot of pho places, but for me, hands down the northern Pho here all I ever order. I don't even need a menu. it usually gets busy from 11-1pm on the weekends, but the wait is not long. one thing I will advise people on. when you sit at a table, wipe the spoons and small dish used for your dipping sauce really good with napkins and use the throw-away wooden chopsticks in the packaging.
